Originally created to serve members of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), the company has grown to include a family of travel brands focused on educational and experiential travel. It acquired Overseas Adventure Travel (O.A.T.) in 1993, which itself was founded in 1978 by teacher Judi Wineland to provide authentic, adventurous, and affordable safaris and tours. The corporation emphasizes cultural immersion, connecting travelers with local people and cultures through small group tours globally, including destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. With more than 2 million travelers served and over 30 offices worldwide, Grand Circle Corporation continues to cultivate transformative travel experiences that go beyond sightseeing to meaningful engagement. Grand Circle’s philanthropic efforts are substantial, having donated or pledged over $250 million since 1992 to support local communities and social ventures connected to their travel destinations. Their work blends adventure tourism with social responsibility, encouraging travelers to explore while contributing positively to global communities. The company’s associates prioritize delivering off-the-beaten-path experiences and fostering personal change through travel. As a preeminent travel company for the over-50 demographic, Grand Circle Corporation remains dedicated to enriching its customers’ lives and expanding their understanding of the world through carefully curated journeys.
