We’re looking to hire a Head of Content to help us show the story of our work in bold, creative, and intriguing ways.

This person will be a master at content creation and social media. Someone who knows what works and what doesn’t to drive the right actions. A cross-functional champion. Someone who is able to craft a vision and strategy for how and where we want to tell our story for maximum impact.

This role entails creating and managing all of Appen’s website site content, blog posts, videos, webinars and social channels (including Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube). We also want to create more original content – podcasts and case studies showcasing the work of our product’s impact, executive’s expertise and our 1,000,000+ crowd capabilities. As a member of the global marketing team, you’ll work closely with the product and sales team, the broader marketing team, and advise our senior executives.


  • Update and implement a strategy for Appen’s social channels that boosts awareness of our brand, mission and the products.
  • Develop an editorial strategy and content pipeline that cuts through the feed and builds on Appen’s leading role in the AI Lifecycle and real-world exploration.
  • Manage Marketing’s day-to-day operations for Appen’s current social channels and develop new channels as needed.
  • Work cross functionally with multiple teams and individuals across the company to support launches, events and content creation to produce growing positive impact on our social impact, authority in the AI space and clients sentiment.
  • Build an engaged social community that’s passionate about Appen and its role as its position as the premiere data for Ai Lifecycle resource.
  • Work with outside agencies on content strategy, creative direction, analysis measurement and impact.
  • Support executives on their use of social media.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience in social media, marketing, communications, journalism or an equivalent field.
  • Extensive experience building and executing social media campaigns, especially for challenger brands, to build awareness and reach.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing and content creation skills.
  • Experience working with diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • A passion for artificial intelligence, products that use AI, and new technology uses/platforms is a big plus!

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-7 years of Experience creating written content for websites, magazines and managing social channels
  • BA/BS in English, Communications, Marketing or PR
  • Experience creating and managing content calendars
