Our client in NY is looking for a Senior UX Designer

Here are the details:
Senior UX Designer(2 roles, one focused on Higher Ed demographic and other on the Student demographic)
Duration: 12 Months

Profile: 5-7 year UX designer w/enterprise experience in developing customer journey/designs; one with student demographic experience and the other with client-user based demographic, preferably higher ed.

Interview Process: Will be initial video .5 followed by team .75-1.0.

HIGHER ED ROLE:

You will be part of a product team designing and updating applications/web properties that serve colleges and universities. You will learn our global design system and system architecture and become an expert and evangelist for both. You will help train new designers, assist in others’ projects, and also take the lead on some. You will work closely with our global standards team, our design research and analytics groups, and our program-specific product teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Analyze business and technical requirements
  • Identify target users and help build hypothesis around user needs for projects
  • Partner with design researchers to identify the right strategy for what you want to solve for
  • Consistently conduct research and lead synthesis sessions with your team, in an agile and lean way
  • Plan together with your team how implementations that came out of research should be prioritized
  • Create user journeys, purchase/regular flows to capture current and future states of user pathways
  • Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, comps, specifications and other design documents to communicate design ideas to project teams
  • Work within our design system and help grow it
  • Partner with the Accessibility team to ensure designs are compliant
  • Create and present concepts/deliverables to your working team and stakeholders
  • Handoffs to developers through tools like Figma, Zeplin and Invision

How you will collaborate with your team:

  • Coordinate with project management and design team to ensure timely delivery of design artifacts
  • Assist and lead collaboration sessions, working groups, and inter-team coordination
  • Own and manage timelines not just individually, but for the team as a whole
  • Be a significant contributor to the fostering of our design process and quality standards, based on objective, data-driven evidence
  • Forming and maintaining solid relationships with project team members and stakeholders
  • Foster a collaborative and learning environment by partnering with stakeholders and facilitating design decisions to optimize for the user experience while balancing interests within technology, marketing, business, and executive partners
  • Be the “voice of the customer,” representing user needs in product design decisions

STUDENT ROLE:

You will be part of a product team designing and updating applications/web properties that serve our students. What you’ll do:

  • In addition to Research, collect other types of data to inform design decisions/solutions (e.g., surveys, analytics dashboards, accessibility reviews).
  • Partner with design researchers to identify the right strategy for what you want to solve for
  • Consistently conduct research and lead synthesis sessions with your team, in an agile and lean way
  • Plan together with your team how implementations that came out of research should be prioritized
  • Create user journeys and flows to capture current and future states of user pathways
  • Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, comps, specifications and other design documents to communicate design ideas to project teams
  • Work within our design system and help grow it
  • Partner with the Accessibility team to ensure designs are compliant
  • Create and present concepts/deliverables to your working team and stakeholders

You are…

  • Someone with a ‘Product Design’ mindset, who owns the end-to-end design delivery: from strategy to comps
  • Self-managing, but also used to working within a team
  • Experienced working in Agile, iterative/lean design and delivery environments
  • Experienced growing and working within design systems
  • Experienced in information architecture and complex taxonomies
  • Experienced designing purchase and/or subscription flows; familiar with e-commerce challenges and approaches
  • A strong negotiator that is willing to collaborate and find a middle ground
  • Dedicated and passionate about our non-profit mission
  • A great storyteller, both with words and visualizations
  • Effective, but easy-going – someone that is fun to work with and really thrives in a collaborative environment
  • A team member that is not afraid to speak up about what they feel is important, but also is strategic in picking their battles
  • A person with a good sense of humor who isn’t afraid to try and fail (or to try and succeed!)
  • Able to provide relevant case studies and a portfolio of your work
  • Nice to have: Experience designing subscription experiences.
