Shippo R&D is seeking a Staff Product Manager to develop and execute a strategic roadmap for our Label and Rating APIs. The Staff Product Manager is responsible for planning and releasing features and services that enable customers of all types and sizes to fulfill their orders. The scope includes capabilities such as rate shopping, bulk label purchase, hazmat shipping, scheduled pickups, manifesting, and more. Shippo supports rating and labels across more than 40 carrier integrations, packaged under a set of APIs which power shipping workflows for merchants everywhere. You will be a champion for our customers, both shippers and external developers who integrate to our APIs. Your strategy will be driven by customer empathy and business acumen. You will define success metrics rooted in customer adoption and business impact.

You will develop a strong strategic view of our suite of API products and how they must change in order to maximize value. Your teammates will rely on you to keep everyone aligned. You will leverage effective communication skills to align individuals of all levels at Shippo, across carrier partnerships, customer success, strategic partnerships, and our senior leadership team. You will engage deeply with your engineering partners to identify areas of optimization, whether through process or technology, and absorb those into your roadmap.Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple engineering to develop enhancements to our label and rating products, as well as API onboarding.
- In partnership with engineering, create and grow a clear abstraction of carrier capabilities.
- Research API customers’ pain points and shipping strategies, and classify how our product does or does not meet their needs.
- Continuously publish research, including competitor announcements, market analysis and trends.
- Develop a long term roadmap for your core product areas backed by the research above.
- Collaborate with other product and engineering teams to build high quality, scalable solutions.
- Understand and own the shipping domain. Empathize deeply with merchants to understand their challenges. Model out how merchants are shipping goods to consumers. Contextualize those insights to determine the most important problems worth solving.
- Understand how we offer our services as a SaaS platform. Empathize deeply with developers to understand their integration challenges. Contextualize those insights to determine the most important problems worth solving.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Product Management experience
- 2+ years of experience with external-facing API products.
- Proven track record of delivering great products end-to-end from strategy through execution.
- Ability to think strategically, prioritize ruthlessly, and execute methodically.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for a variety of audiences with a wide range of technical skill levels and backgrounds.
- Willing to wear many hats and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with eCommerce order fulfillment a plus.
- Experience with parcel carrier integrations a plus.
