Do you thrive on creating dynamic, user-friendly websites that align with business goals and customer needs? We’re looking for a Senior WordPress Developer to join us at Thinkific.
As a Senior WordPress Developer, you will take the lead in building our company website on WordPress. This role will see you collaborating closely with our Growth, Marketing, Design, and Engineering teams to not only create a stellar public-facing site but also to maintain and continually improve it as our company evolves. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your contributions will be pivotal in shaping the online presence of Thinkific.
Your goal will be to successfully develop, maintain, and enhance our public website to drive customer engagement and business growth. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:
- Collaborate with Marketing to build out a new public website on WordPress, incorporating custom integrations and ensuring the site aligns with our brand
- Add, edit, and update pages in line with stakeholder needs, ensuring consistency in copy and branding
- Work with the Web Strategist to optimize SEO, and site speed
- Address technical issues as they arise
- Partner with the Data team to ensure accurate tracking and analytics, using tools like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and Looker
- Integrate third-party services to enhance website functionality
- Perform security audits and maintain best practices to ensure site security
- Collaborate with the Growth team to implement top-of-funnel experiments aimed at increasing customer engagement
The person we have in mind likely:
- Has 3-5 years of experience as a WordPress Developer with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work
- Is skilled in building sites using Gutenberg and possesses expertise in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, and MySQL
- Is experienced in maintaining and utilizing web analytics tools like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and Looker
- Has a solid understanding of responsive design and mobile-first principles
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
- Excels in communication and enjoys collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality results
- Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business
These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs
- Familiarity with WordPress plugins like Elementor
- Expertise in Prismic, particularly for migration and maintenance of legacy sites
- Experience with Unbounce landing pages
- Knowledge of web hosting best practices, including reverse proxies and CDNs
The recruitment compensation range for this position is $92,000 – $122,000 CAD. Your specific compensation within this range is determined based on your job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and our internal equity assessment
