Full-Stack Software Developer – Freelance, Remote
Department: Support & Leadership
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Philippines
Reporting To: Client via Magic
Compensation: $7.00 / hour
Description
About the Client
A U.S.-based leader in home inspector training, certification, and business enablement is building a modern, AI-enabled web platform to elevate inspection quality and efficiency. They help aspiring and practicing inspectors launch and grow their businesses with flexible courses, exam prep, and ongoing support. The team is now investing in software that streamlines inspections, ensures compliance, and seamlessly connects issues found to qualified contractors.
Why does this role exist?
The client has an inspection app prototype that’s ~80% complete and needs a full‑stack developer to stabilize the product, integrate dependable AI (photo and text analysis), and ship a soft‑launch in four weeks. The role exists to harden architecture, resolve API/webhook integrations, complete multi‑role dashboards, and deliver an explainable, accurate AI pipeline. This hire will own feature delivery, QA, and iterations from launch through early post‑launch improvements.
The Impact you’ll make
Full‑Stack Product Development
- Build, debug, and polish features across the existing React front end and Node.js back end.
- Implement and refine role‑based dashboards: inspector, client/homebuyer portal, contractor dashboard, and lead‑generation dashboard.
- Stabilize and resolve API hooks and third‑party integrations; improve UI/UX responsiveness and reliability.
AI/ML Photo & Text Intelligence
- Integrate computer vision for photo analysis and NLP for inspector remarks to run compliance checks and generate actionable suggestions.
- Design explainable pipelines with measurable accuracy; reduce false positives/negatives and hallucinations.
- Set up model serving, monitoring, and iteration workflows using AI tooling.
Lead Generation & Contractor Matching
- Implement the lead‑routing flow that connects inspection issues to appropriate contractors.
- Build contractor matching logic and operational dashboards; ensure smooth handoff and feedback loops.
- Instrument metrics to track lead quality, acceptance, and conversion.
Quality, Testing, and Release Management
- Establish test coverage, QA plans, and bug triage to support a reliable soft‑launch and post‑launch hardening.
- Optimize performance, error handling, and logging; proactively resolve defects.
- Collaborate on release planning and rollback strategies.
DevOps, Architecture, and Collaboration
- Maintain CI/CD, Git/GitHub workflows, and environment configuration (current dev in Replit; AI‑assisted coding in Cursor).
- Recommend pragmatic architectural improvements and tradeoffs (e.g., native vs. responsive web).
- Communicate clearly in Slack, write documentation, and create tickets for iterative work.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required:
- 3+ years building production web applications with React (front end) and Node.js (back end).
- Hands‑on integration of AI/ML into applications (computer vision and NLP), including model serving and evaluation.
- Strong experience with RESTful APIs/webhooks and third‑party service integrations.
- Practical DevOps and QA skills: Git/GitHub, CI/CD, automated testing, and release management.
- Excellent English communication and ability to work Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm Mountain Time (40 hours/week).
- WFH Set-Up:
- Computer with at least 8GB RAM, an Intel i5 core processor/AMD Ryzen 5 Processor and up.
- Internet speed of at least 40MBPS
- Headset with an extended mic that has noise cancellation and a webcam
- Back-up computer and internet connection
- Quiet, dedicated workspace at home
Your Superpowers:
- Technical: React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST/GraphQL APIs, relational/non‑relational databases (e.g., Postgres/MongoDB), cloud deployment, containers, CI/CD, automated testing. Familiarity with Replit, Cursor, and AI tooling (e.g., OpenAI/vision models, vector databases) is a plus.
- AI/ML: Practical experience building explainable pipelines, evaluating model performance, and reducing hallucinations/false results.
- Product & Process: Strong debugging instincts, clean architecture mindset, and the ability to turn ambiguous requirements into shippable, maintainable solutions.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal English, proactive Slack collaboration, and crisp documentation.
You should apply if…
