The English Department has an opening for a part-time Lecturer in English. The English Department at CU Denver oversees the university’s course composition program, which consists of a sequence of two classes—English 1020 and 2030. The Department also offers undergraduate majors in Literature; Film; Creative Writing; and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technology; as well as an MA degree in English Studies.
Lecturer
What you will do:
The English Department seeks a Lecturer with experience in composition instruction to teach 2 sections of core composition in Colorado adult male prisons. Each class section meets once per week for varied amounts of time per session. In addition to leading class discussion, composition teachers must also prepare for classes, provide regular feedback on assignments, and meet with students outside the classroom.
A successful applicant will have training in composition studies and experience in the composition classroom, particularly with teaching incarcerated adult male student populations. The applicant should be able to flexibly engage in incarcerated students with wide range of abilities and experiences. This is a part-time position that requires the applicant to teach on site at both the Sterling and Territorial prisons.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $ 5,113.00.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
