Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the People Project Manager position at Stripe. With over 7 years of experience in project management and business operations, including a focus on HR initiatives, I have a proven track record of driving cross-functional projects from conception to successful delivery. My ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and build trust with stakeholders aligns perfectly with the responsibilities outlined.

I have extensive experience using project management tools like Asana and Jira, and I am comfortable with Agile and Waterfall methodologies. I am particularly drawn to Stripe's culture of collaboration and innovation, and I am eager to contribute to the People team's goals. My analytical and data-driven approach ensures that decisions are informed and impactful.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can support Stripe's growth and people operations.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

Can you describe a time when you managed a complex project with multiple stakeholders across HR, Finance, and Legal? How did you ensure alignment and successful delivery?
In my previous role, I led a compensation review project that required coordination with HR, Finance, and Legal. I established a steering committee with representatives from each department, used a shared project plan in Asana, and held weekly syncs to address risks. By maintaining clear communication and using data to support decisions, we delivered the project on time and within budget.
How do you prioritize projects when faced with competing deadlines and limited resources?
I use a combination of impact-effort analysis and stakeholder input to prioritize. I categorize projects by strategic importance and urgency, then align with leadership on trade-offs. For example, I once deprioritized a low-impact process improvement to focus on a regulatory compliance project that had a hard deadline, communicating the rationale to all stakeholders.
Tell me about a time you had to implement a change management initiative. What framework did you use and what was the outcome?
I led the rollout of a new HRIS system using the ADKAR model. I first assessed awareness and desire among users, then provided training and support to build knowledge and ability. The reinforcement phase included feedback loops and recognition. The adoption rate reached 90% within three months, exceeding the target.
How do you ensure that your project plans are realistic and achievable?
I break down work into manageable tasks, involve team members in estimating effort, and use historical data to inform timelines. I also build in buffers for risks and review progress regularly. For instance, in a recent project, I identified potential bottlenecks early and adjusted the schedule, which prevented delays.
Describe how you handle ambiguity when project requirements are not fully defined. Can you give a specific example?
When starting a project to streamline employee onboarding, the scope was initially vague. I conducted stakeholder interviews to understand pain points, created a high-level roadmap, and iterated based on feedback. I also set up weekly check-ins to validate assumptions. This approach allowed us to deliver a solution that met user needs despite the ambiguity.
