What steps would you take to optimize a slow reporting query in Amazon Redshift? I would inspect the query plan and identify expensive scans, skewed joins, redistribution, nested logic, and unnecessary data movement. Typical improvements include filtering early, selecting only needed columns, restructuring joins and aggregations, using appropriate distribution and sort keys, materializing reusable intermediate datasets, and ensuring statistics are current. I would benchmark changes against representative workloads and validate that results remain correct. How do you prioritize competing dashboard and reporting requests from stakeholders? I prioritize requests using business impact, urgency, reach, data readiness, effort, and whether a solution can be reused broadly.
