I would validate the design with race detection, load tests, structured logging, and metrics around queue depth, error rates, and request latency.

How would you approach investigating a data mismatch reported by a customer after a synchronization job completed successfully?

I would first use correlation IDs and audit logs to trace the source record, transformation steps, outbound request, third-party response, and resulting internal state. I would compare raw source data against canonical and destination representations to identify whether the issue arose from mapping, timing, API behavior, or a stale record. After resolving the immediate issue, I would add a regression test, reconciliation control, or monitoring signal to prevent recurrence.

How do you balance speed and quality while working in an early-stage startup with evolving requirements?

I clarify the customer outcome and non-negotiable reliability constraints first, then deliver the smallest observable solution that can safely meet them. I make trade-offs explicit, use feature flags or incremental rollouts where appropriate, and prioritize automated tests around critical data paths. This enables fast iteration while preserving maintainability and reducing the risk of customer-impacting failures.

We’re looking for a backend engineer to help build and scale our integration infrastructure. You’ll work closely with our staff backend engineer to tackle complex problems in data mapping, syncing, and platform reliability while expanding our integration capabilities across the wealth tech ecosystem.

Own end-to-end delivery of backend features and services, from design through deployment and monitoring.
