It requires close collaboration with investigators, threat intelligence, data science, policy, marketing, and go-to-market teams, as well as rigorous fact-checking and content risk management. [Editorial leadership](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Editorial%20leadership.md)[Investigative writing](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Investigative%20writing.md)[Blockchain intelligence](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Blockchain%20intelligence.md)[Cryptocurrency](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Cryptocurrency.md)[Financial crime](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Financial%20crime.md)[OSINT research](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=OSINT%20research.md)[Fact-checking](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Fact-checking.md)[Data storytelling](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Data%20storytelling.md)[Stakeholder management](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=Stakeholder%20management.md)[AI-assisted research](https://jobicy.com/jobs?search_keywords=AI-assisted%20research.md)

Sample interview questionsHow would you turn an ambiguous analytical finding about crypto-related illicit activity into a publishable intelligence brief?I would first align with the analytical owner on the decision-relevant question, intended audience, evidence threshold, and key caveats. I would create a concise scope with the core narrative, supporting data, source requirements, risk considerations, and proposed visuals, then draft in a structure that clearly separates verified facts, analysis, and uncertainty. Before publication, I would run a formal accuracy, methodology, legal-risk, and stakeholder review.

Describe how you would handle a request to publish a response to a sanctions announcement within 12 hours.

I would establish a rapid production plan with a single accountable analytical lead, defined approval owners, and a tightly scoped audience objective. I would prioritize authoritative primary sources, validate key on-chain or investigative claims with the relevant teams, and use a templated structure to speed drafting without reducing rigor. I would explicitly document caveats and unresolved questions, then conduct a final de-risking review before release.

How do you edit highly technical material from subject-matter experts without oversimplifying it?

I start by identifying the claim, its evidence, its assumptions, and what the audience needs to understand or do. I simplify terminology and reorganize the narrative around the reader’s questions, but retain the expert’s review authority over technical accuracy. Where complexity is essential, I use definitions, examples, sidebars, or visuals rather than removing important nuance.

What role should AI play in an intelligence editorial workflow?

AI can accelerate research synthesis, outline generation, copyediting, source organization, and workflow automation, but it should not replace verification or editorial judgment. I would use it with clear prompts, trusted inputs, and human review of every factual claim, citation, and sensitive inference. I would also build repeatable safeguards for confidentiality, provenance, and quality control.

How would you measure whether TRM’s intelligence content is effective?

I would define success metrics by product and audience, combining quality indicators with outcomes such as qualified readership, citations, engagement, client or prospect action, media pickup, and feedback from government or law-enforcement stakeholders. I would pair those metrics with post-publication retrospectives to assess whether the framing, distribution, evidence, and production process worked. The goal would be to improve both strategic impact and the speed and reliability of future publications.

### Build a Safer World.

TRM Labs provides AI-powered intelligence solutions that help public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. TRM’s platforms enable investigators to trace illicit activity, build cases, and construct operating pictures of threat networks. Leading agencies and businesses worldwide rely on TRM to make the world safer and more secure.

We are looking for an Insights Editor to help scale our blockchain intelligence content engine. In this role, you will lead the creation of data-driven intelligence products, including reports, briefs, and insights blogs, that increase TRM’s share of voice and position us as the most trusted public source on crypto-related financial crime.

Sitting within the intelligence team, you will work at the intersection of global investigations, threat intelligence, data science, and policy. You will translate complex, sometimes ambiguous analytical work into clear, accurate, and compelling narratives for a range of audiences, from law enforcement and regulators to financial institutions and the broader public.

If you are an exceptional writer and editor who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, and you’re excited about using data and investigative work to tell important stories about financial crime, this role is for you.

The impact you will have:

*

Lead intelligence product development: Generate, scope, edit, and distribute intelligence products, for both public and private distribution, that support TRM’s commercial, policy, and brand objectives. Produce scoping documents defining the key questions, core narrative, and data requirements for each product, in close partnership with analytical anchors and other SMEs. Own the full editorial process from concept and outline through drafting, edits, approvals, and publication. Maintain a recurring cadence of proactive products for law enforcement, government, and private-sector distribution — managing intake, editorial review, compliance checks, and routing end-to-end. Produce quick-turn reactive content — responses to sanctions announcements, enforcement actions, and breaking developments in crypto crime — on tight timelines without sacrificing accuracy or editorial standards. Use AI to drive independent research while maintaining quality, readability, and accuracy.

*

Write, edit, and de-risk content: Author and edit intelligence products for clarity, structure, style, and impact while adhering to TRM’s voice, style, and legal/risk guidelines. Verify and cross-check the accuracy of data, references, and claims, working with analysts, data teams, and AI tools to reconcile discrepancies and edge cases. Apply and continuously improve our data de-risking standards. Provide a clear perspective on the best visual representations of data and narratives — charts, figures, tables, diagrams — collaborating with design and analytics to implement them.

*

Partner with analysts and stakeholders: Work closely with threat intelligence, global investigations, data science, product, policy, and marketing to identify the most impactful stories emerging from our data and investigative work. Maintain an effective cadence for scanning the landscape — media, policy, enforcement actions, and internal intel — to propose timely, differentiated storylines. Act as a thought partner to analysts and investigators, helping shape research questions, analytical frames, and audience targeting. Work with go-to-market on data-driven pieces for clients, prospects, and sales cycles, and develop products framed specifically for government and law enforcement audiences.

*

Operate and improve the production engine: Manage project plans, milestones, and stakeholder communication, clearly flagging progress, blockers, and exit criteria at each stage of our shipping framework. Ensure each product follows a clear narrative spine, uses consistent terminology and formatting, and aligns with TRM’s risk appetite and strategic priorities. Facilitate or contribute to retrospectives after flagship publications, capturing lessons learned. Maintain and improve scalable systems for organizing drafts, data, and dependencies.

What we’re looking for — core qualifications:

*

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, International Relations, Government, Economics, Security Studies, or a related field; advanced degree a plus

*

7+ years of professional experience in writing and editing data- or research-driven content (investigative reporting, think tank / policy research, intelligence analysis, or similar)

*

Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, structure, and style, with a proven ability to simplify complex material without sacrificing accuracy

*

Demonstrated experience editing others’ work for clarity, narrative coherence, and tone, including providing constructive feedback to subject-matter experts

*

Strong research and fact-checking skills; comfortable working with both quantitative data and qualitative sources (OSINT, court filings, enforcement actions)

*

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and operate in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment

Domain and technical skills:

*

Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain, financial crime, or adjacent domains (sanctions, fraud, cybercrime, AML/CTF, illicit finance), or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on technical subject matter

*

Comfort collaborating with data and analytics teams — reading charts, interrogating data caveats, and discussing methodology at a non-technical level

*

Experience with content management, editorial workflow, or collaboration tools (Google Docs, Notion, project trackers, Slack)

*

Comfort using and iterating on AI tools while maintaining an insistence on the highest-quality outputs

Nice to have:

*

Prior experience in investigations, national security, intelligence or law enforcement environments — or in think tanks, research institutes, or policy shops producing external-facing analysis

*

Experience shaping content for different audiences (public sector vs private sector; technical vs executive; public vs client-only)

*

Background working in a remote, globally distributed team across multiple time zones

*

Experience measurably improving engagement with published work — readership, lead conversion, or customer action taken on what was published

About the Team:

You’ll be a core member of the Blockchain Intelligence (Insights) team, partnering daily with analysts, investigators, policy experts, and GTM stakeholders.

Team Operating Rhythms:

*

TRM Speed: we prioritize high-judgment speed — shipping timely, well-de-risked content on tight timelines (6–12 hours for current events when needed) while maintaining a very high quality bar

*

Within Insights we typically reserve 7 AM–11 AM PT for live collaboration; outside that we work async and rely heavily on written communication and documentation.

Learn about TRM Speed in this position — within the first 3–6 months, a successful Insights Editor will typically:

*

Scope and lead at least one major intelligence product end-to-end in collaboration with analytical anchors and other stakeholders

*

Ship multiple smaller intelligence products with minimal friction through our shipping framework

*

Effectively deploy TRM’s AI tools into their daily process

*

Demonstrate strong command of TRM’s data sources, tagging, and models — enough to question, refine, and occasionally challenge initial analytical conclusions or framing

*

Be seen as a go-to editor for high-stakes external intelligence content — trusted to elevate clarity and impact while protecting TRM’s credibility and risk posture
