Sample interview questionsHow would you approach development of a cost-effectiveness model for a new oncology molecular diagnostic?I would first define the decision problem, including the target population, comparator pathways, payer perspective, time horizon, and relevant clinical outcomes. I would select an appropriate model structure, such as a decision tree followed by a Markov or partitioned-survival model, then populate it with evidence from trials, real-world data, literature, and validated assumptions. Finally, I would conduct deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analyses and clearly communicate uncertainty, budget implications, and decision-relevant value drivers.

Describe how you would integrate HEOR requirements into a prospective clinical study.

I would partner early with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Biostatistics to identify payer-relevant evidence gaps and incorporate feasible endpoints such as healthcare resource utilization, treatment patterns, patient-reported outcomes, quality of life, and diagnostic impact. I would ensure the statistical analysis plan supports these objectives and that data collection is consistent with downstream reimbursement and HTA needs. Throughout the study, I would maintain a plan for translating results into publications, economic models, and value communications.

How do you make complex HEOR findings useful to payer and commercial audiences?

I begin by understanding the audience's decision context, such as total cost of care, budget predictability, clinical utility, or pathway efficiency. I then translate the technical analysis into concise, evidence-based messages supported by transparent assumptions, scenario analyses, and visually clear summaries. I preserve scientific rigor while tailoring the format into tools such as value dossiers, budget-impact briefs, account calculators, and executive presentations.

What considerations are important when adapting a U.S. economic model for international HTA markets?

I would assess each market's perspective, comparator set, treatment pathway, costing sources, utility expectations, discounting conventions, and evidentiary standards. The model should be adaptable to local epidemiology, reimbursement rules, and data availability while retaining a consistent validated core structure. I would also engage local market-access experts early to ensure alignment with bodies such as NICE, CADTH, PBAC, IQWiG, and relevant Japanese processes.

Tell us how you would prioritize HEOR evidence-generation initiatives when resources are limited.

I would use a structured prioritization framework that weighs strategic product milestones, payer evidence gaps, reimbursement risk, potential patient and commercial impact, feasibility, and time to evidence. I would align priorities with cross-functional stakeholders and distinguish essential evidence needed for near-term decisions from longer-term differentiating research. I would then establish clear owners, timelines, decision points, and publication plans to maximize the value of available resources.

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and highly collaborative leader to serve as our
Associate Director/Senior Manager of Health Economics & Outcomes Research
(HEOR) Oncology. In this high-impact role, you will lead the development and execution

strategy and development of peer-reviewed manuscripts, scientific abstracts,
conference posters, oral presentations, white papers, and technical reports.
Coordinate publication plans and timelines with investigators, key opinion
leaders, academic collaborators, and external research partners to ensure
evidence generation is aligned with strategic business priorities.

 Market Access & Payer Evidence: Partner with Market Access, Medical Affairs,
Marketing, and Commercial teams to translate HEOR evidence into payer value
propositions, budget impact summaries, value dossiers, reimbursement
materials, health economic briefs, health-system value calculators, account-
specific economic tools, and other evidence-based value communications.

 Global HEOR Strategy: Develop and adapt health economic evidence and
payer models for the U.S. and international markets, including Europe, Japan,
Canada, Australia, and other priority geographies. Support reimbursement
submissions and evidence strategies aligned with HTA and payer requirements
across healthcare systems.

 Cross-Functional & External Collaboration: Serve as a strategic HEOR

executive-level communications.

 Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to work across clinical, medical,
statistical, market access, commercial, and business functions and to influence
evidence strategy in a matrixed organization.

 Global Perspective: Understanding of U.S. and international reimbursement
environments and major HTA frameworks, including ICER, NICE, CADTH,
