How do you manage a technical customer escalation while protecting the long-term relationship?

I first establish a shared fact base, severity level, customer impact, and a clear incident owner. I communicate a practical action plan and update cadence, mobilize the appropriate internal specialists, and ensure the team addresses both immediate recovery and root-cause prevention. After resolution, I conduct a review with the customer and internal stakeholders to rebuild confidence and capture operational improvements.

What metrics would you use to forecast usage growth and assess customer health?

I would combine leading indicators such as onboarding progress, active users, workloads moving through deployment stages, platform utilization, stakeholder engagement, and open risks with lagging indicators such as production workload count, consumption growth, renewal health, and realized business outcomes. The metrics should be visible in a regular operating review and tied to specific customer action plans.

How do you develop technical leaders while maintaining a high bar for architecture quality?

I set explicit technical and behavioral expectations, use architecture and code reviews as coaching opportunities, and create development plans tied to real customer responsibilities. I encourage certifications, peer learning, and ownership of reusable practices, while calibrating performance against customer impact, technical judgment, collaboration, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

As a Delivery Solutions Architect (DSA) Manager supporting our Emerging Enterprise (EE) segment, you will build, lead, and inspire a team of DSAs who help our most innovative, fast-growing customers accelerate their journey from idea to production on the Databricks Platform.

Your team will focus on accelerating use case onboarding, enabling production workloads, and driving success in production, ensuring every customer achieves measurable outcomes and business value. You will set strategy, coach technical excellence, and ensure your team remains at the forefront of modern Data and AI architecture.

You will report to the Director of Delivery Solutions Architecture for the Emerging Enterprise Unit.

* Accelerate Path to Production: Inspire your team to minimize friction, remove blockers, streamline onboarding, and enable customers to get high-impact workloads into production faster.
* Maintain Technical Excellence: Ensure you and your team stays ahead of the curve with advanced knowledge of Databricks and the broader Data and AI ecosystem, continuously learning and achieving certifications.
* Collaborate for Customer Growth: Partner closely with Sales, Solutions Architects, Support, Product Engineering, and Professional Services to build integrated customer plans that accelerate adoption and deliver tangible ROI.
* Champion Operational Rigor: Establish mechanisms for tracking, forecasting, and communicating workload progress, usage growth, and customer health.
* Be a Thought Leader and Sponsor: Serve as the technical sponsor for select EE accounts, engaging tech leads and executives to shape customer success strategy at scale.
* Contribute to the DSA Practice: Drive initiatives that enhance consistency, scalability, and innovation across the DSA organization.

### What We Look For

* 7+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles (Architecture, Field Engineering, or similar roles with a focus on Data and AI), including 3+ years leading technical teams.
* Experienced in cloud-based Lakehouse architectures, specifically in guiding customers through migrations and modernization, leveraging cloud-native architectural principles.
* Proven track record in accelerating workloads to production and enabling sustained success on cloud-native platforms.
* Deep understanding of and ability to guide complex architectural discussions related to distributed data systems and cloud-native platforms.
* Hands-on experience in SQL, an Object-Oriented Programming Language (preference for Python, SQL, or Scala), code reviews, and architecture design sessions.
* Expertise in Data and AI domains, such as Analytics, Data Warehousing, ETL, Streaming, and/or ML/AI productionization.
* Experience with hyperscaler platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a strong plus.
* Ability to manage escalations, forecast usage growth, and operationalize customer success programs.
* Strong communication and executive presence; trusted advisor to technical leaders and C-level stakeholders.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed.

The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks anticipates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
