I would set thresholds that trigger a review, updated underwriting, or adjustments to exposure controls. How have you used SQL or data visualization to improve a risk process? I would use SQL to combine portfolio, transaction, loss, and merchant-performance data into repeatable monitoring datasets. A concise dashboard can then highlight exposure concentrations, deteriorating trends, policy exceptions, and loss performance, allowing the team to prioritize reviews and communicate portfolio insights quickly. How would you handle a disagreement with Sales about a proposed credit restriction for an important merchant? I would first understand the merchant's commercial context and Sales' growth objectives, then explain the evidence supporting the risk concern and the potential downside. I would seek a calibrated alternative, such as phased limits, reserves, enhanced reporting, or time-bound monitoring, while escalating transparently if the remaining risk exceeds the approved risk appetite. As a Credit Risk Analyst Commercial Underwriter on the North America Strategy Risk team, you’ll underwrite and manage a portfolio of our largest and fastest-growing businesses to facilitate growth objectives while minimizing credit risk. This is a high-impact role that involves strong cross-functional partnership with Sales, Legal, Treasury, and Finance. This role is assigned to West Coast hours, with a high preference for candidates in the Pacific time zone. ### Responsibilities * Work directly with our top merchants, from successful venture-backed startups to well-established institutions, to evaluate their business models and financial statements * Provide tailored credit risk recommendations that mitigate Stripe exposure, while facilitating partner company growth * Help manage the portfolio by developing a deep understanding of risk across industries, geographies, and operating models * Deliver insights to support senior management decisions, ranging from onboarding strategies to merchant pricing analysis * Support the refinement of tools and processes to help the team deliver on key performance indicators, such as credit loss targets or portfolio coverage metrics * Work with internal and external partners to support merchants around the world ### Who you are We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role.
