I would validate request schemas, authentication, authorization, response contracts, idempotency, retries, timeouts, and error handling at the API layer. For asynchronous processing, I would verify queue or job state transitions, polling or callback behavior, duplicate-event handling, data integrity in the database, and performance under representative load and concurrency. Describe how you would integrate automated tests into a CI/CD pipeline with short release cycles. I would run linting and fast unit/API checks on every pull request, followed by targeted integration tests for changed components. Broader regression and end-to-end suites would run in dedicated environments before release or on a scheduled basis, with clear quality gates, parallel execution, result reporting, and actionable failure artifacts for developers. How do you communicate a release-quality risk when testing cannot be fully completed? I clearly state the untested scope, the reason it remains untested, the affected customer or system impact, and my confidence level. I present concrete mitigation options, such as targeted manual validation, feature flags, monitoring, rollback readiness, or delaying release, so product and engineering leaders can make an informed decision. Learn more about our engineering culture here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXM2NrkhKZc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXM2NrkhKZc) StackAdapt is a remote-first company; we are open to candidates located anywhere in North America for this position. ### What You’ll Be Doing: * Participate in the development of in-house automated and functional test scripts and tooling that address areas such as functional, system, API, integration, UI and regression testing * Work collaboratively with Platform, Product, DevOps, and other teams in order to deploy and run automated tests on test environments with CI/CD * Provide timely test result feedback to the Platform Team, the QA team and other relevant stakeholders * Participate in technical planning, code review and architectural decision-making ### What You’ll Bring to the Table: * At least 4 years of professional, hands-on test automation experience with API & UI test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Mocha, Jest or Junit * Knowledge of React, including but not limited to adding data-testids * Ability to explore codebase and utilize other technical tools to gain an understanding of technical implementation * Fluency in at least one of Javascript, Typescript, Python, or Java * Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, CircleCI * Strong understanding of scalable system design for web-based APIs and backend processing systems * In-depth understanding of QA methodologies in a software company with short release cycles * Experience writing test cases that cover edge/negative cases, compatibility, and concurrency tests in test case management tools like TestRail * Experience working with relational databases * Hands-on experience with SQL and ability to query for large data sets The compensation range listed for this role reflects the expected base salary for candidates located in the posting country based on a global rate. It is informed by market data and the approved budget for this position. StackAdapt maintains different compensation ranges for roles across other countries and regions, and final offers will be aligned to the candidate’s current location.
