Sample interview questionsHow would you explain the clinical value of MRD testing to a community oncologist who is unfamiliar with the technology?I would first understand the physician's tumor focus, current testing workflow, and clinical question. I would then explain MRD using the relevant validated evidence, clearly distinguishing clinical utility, performance characteristics, and any limitations. I would tailor the discussion to the patient's care pathway and provide appropriate approved resources for follow-up.

Describe how you would handle a complex medical inquiry that requires an answer within 48 hours.

I would document the inquiry promptly, clarify the specific question and urgency, and review approved scientific resources. If the question exceeds my scope or requires specialized input, I would triage it immediately to the appropriate Medical Director or medical information partner, maintain closed-loop communication, and record the outcome in CRM.

How do you generate actionable insights from field interactions?

I look for recurring barriers, unmet evidence needs, workflow challenges, and emerging trends across accounts. I separate individual anecdotes from patterns, document the context and potential impact, and translate the finding into a concise recommendation for medical affairs or cross-functional stakeholders. I would also follow up to determine whether the insight led to a useful action.

What is your approach to maintaining scientific credibility while collaborating with commercial and MSL colleagues?

I maintain a clear medical affairs role by grounding every external interaction in balanced, evidence-based scientific exchange and applicable compliance standards. I collaborate closely with commercial and MSL colleagues on account context and logistics while preserving appropriate boundaries around promotional activity. This enables a coordinated customer experience without compromising scientific integrity.

How would you prioritize a territory with strategic accounts, field ride requirements, educational programs, and significant travel?

I would create a quarterly territory plan based on account priority, clinical opportunity, program commitments, and travel efficiency. I would reserve time for required strategic account engagement and MSL ride days, while maintaining flexibility for escalated medical inquiries and emerging needs. Regular review with the Area Medical Director and MSL manager would keep the plan aligned with regional objectives.

● Generate at least 2 actionable regional insights per quarter; contribute to quarterly written insight report submitted to AMD or manager.

* Identify, triage and resolve operational issues coming from area accounts through cross-functional coordination and ownership.

Clinical Development Support

● Identify and document field-driven evidence generation opportunities; escalate to AMD for evaluation and submission to histology lifecycle teams.

● Support AMD-led clinical trial concept development; participate in one histology-specific program identification per year.

● Clinical knowledge across at least one or more tumor histologies and foundational understanding of molecular diagnostic testing in oncology.

● Demonstrated ability to communicate clinical data and engage physician audiences in a professional setting.

Preferred:

● Cross-functional awareness. Understands how medical affairs, MSL, commercial, and marketing functions interrelate and engages accordingly.

● Clear communicator. Can simplify complex clinical concepts for diverse physician audiences and internal stakeholders.
