I would prioritize clean and timely financial statements, documented accounting policies, balance-sheet reconciliations, revenue support, entity-level reporting, and a well-organized data room. I would also assess control gaps, normalize nonrecurring items, validate key metrics, and ensure management can explain historical variances and forward-looking assumptions. How would you improve forecasting accuracy while preserving speed in a high-growth environment? I would create a driver-based forecast that uses a manageable number of operational inputs linked to revenue, costs, headcount, and cash. I would compare forecast assumptions with actual performance monthly, maintain base, upside, and downside scenarios, and update the model when leading indicators change.
