I would minimize collection of sensitive data, avoid storing card data where tokenization is available, encrypt data in transit and at rest, and apply least-privilege access controls. I would use managed secret storage, audit sensitive operations, sanitize logs, and maintain secure dependency, authentication, and authorization practices. Describe how you would collaborate with finance and product teams on a billing feature. I would begin by clarifying business rules, lifecycle states, reporting requirements, edge cases, and acceptance criteria with both teams. I would translate these into an observable technical design, share trade-offs early, deliver iteratively with test scenarios, and validate the implementation against finance reconciliation and customer experience needs. The team is responsible for architecting, scaling, and maintaining the core backend platforms that power global e-commerce, billing, and payment processing for LastPass.
