I isolate the issue by checking field mappings, data formats, timing, permissions, interface logs, and recent configuration changes. After identifying the root cause, I coordinate a tested correction, validate data end to end, document the resolution, and add monitoring or controls to prevent recurrence. How do you manage competing client deadlines in a fractional consulting environment? I establish scope, owners, milestones, risks, and communication cadences at the start of each engagement. I prioritize payroll-critical and compliance-sensitive work first, communicate trade-offs early, keep stakeholders informed through concise status updates, and maintain clear documentation so delivery remains dependable across multiple clients. In addition to providing HR and payroll support, this role will lead HRIS and Payroll implementations for our clients. This is a hands-on role for someone who has run payroll and HR technology in-house, not just implemented it for others. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Payroll Operations * Own end-to-end payroll processing, accuracy, and compliance across all applicable states * Manage payroll calendar, tax filings, garnishments, and off-cycle runs * Serve as the point of escalation for payroll discrepancies and audits * HRIS/Payroll System Implementations * Administer and maintain the core HRIS platform (e.g., HiBob, Dayforce, Rippling), including workflows, permissions, and data integrity * Manage system integrations across HRIS, performance, payroll, benefits, and other downstream tools Implementation & Optimization * Lead configurations for clients implementing new payroll and HCM systems to include leading change management, new module rollouts, and system upgrades * Build and maintain automated workflows to reduce manual HR admin * Partner with People team leaders to translate process needs into system design Data & Compliance * Own HR data integrity, reporting, and audit readiness across systems * Ensure payroll and HRIS practices meet federal, state, and local compliance requirements * Deliver dashboards and reporting that support workforce planning and OKRs People Operations & Core HR * Optimize HR processes, policies, and systems for efficiency and compliance. * Implement core HR practices: onboarding, employee relations, policy development. * Advise on federal, state, and local employment law compliance.
