User-space frameworks can reduce overhead and improve throughput or latency through polling, batching, and direct NIC access, but they increase operational complexity and require careful CPU, memory, and NIC resource management. How would you test a routing or tunneling change before production rollout? I would begin with unit and integration tests for control-plane and data-plane behavior, then use an isolated environment with representative topologies and traffic. I would test normal paths, route convergence, failover, MTU behavior, malformed traffic, and performance limits, followed by staged rollout with monitoring and a tested rollback plan. We’re building a traffic delivery system for a variety of scenarios: IPv4 connectivity, Cloud Interconnect, Egress NAT, and a network load balancer. They serve tens of millions of packets per second.
