I prioritize safe deployment mechanisms, capacity planning, clear alert routing, runbooks, and blameless incident reviews. I also use recurring operational findings to reduce toil and eliminate common failure modes rather than only reacting to incidents. How would you support and mentor engineers in a fully remote staff-level role? I would provide timely, specific feedback through design reviews and code reviews, while making reasoning and trade-offs visible rather than simply prescribing solutions. I would create regular opportunities for pairing, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing across time zones. The Opportunity: The Grafana Alerting squad operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project [(link)](https://github.com/grafana/grafana), and our mission is to provide the most in-depth way to let users manage their alerts. The backend-focused team works closely with customers and the Grafana Cloud teams to make Alerting work on-prem and at infinite scale in Cloud. The team’s scope spans both Grafana Alerting and the SLOs product, so engineers get to work across two products that are deeply connected in how they help users detect and respond to problems.
