How do you decide whether business logic belongs in the frontend, backend, or an API layer? I keep security-sensitive rules, shared validations, data access, and durable workflows on the backend. The frontend should focus on presentation and responsive user interactions, while API contracts provide a stable boundary between clients and services. How would you integrate a third-party AI platform while controlling latency, reliability, and cost? I would define a narrow integration interface, enforce timeouts and retries, instrument latency and usage, cache safe repeatable results where appropriate, and use fallbacks or asynchronous workflows for non-critical requests. I would also track cost per request and apply rate limits or feature flags. What practices do you use to maintain quality while working in a fast-moving product team? I prioritize risk-based automated tests, small reviewable pull requests, clear acceptance criteria, feature flags, structured logging, and dashboards for important user and service metrics. These practices allow rapid releases while preserving rollback and diagnosis options. How do you investigate a production issue affecting an API-backed user flow? I first assess scope and user impact, then review monitoring data, error logs, recent deployments, and request traces. I mitigate the issue through rollback, a feature flag, or a targeted fix, communicate status clearly, and document the root cause and preventative follow-up work. Next step ## Apply now.
