Archive Job Description

Spotify is looking for a writer/editor to join the Podcast Editorial team. In this role you will be responsible for all written content for Podcast Editorial and lead the development of our editorial voice. You will also craft and create stories across all podcast genres – helping listeners explore topics they love and discover new podcasts. This role reports to the Head of Podcast Editorial.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and edit long and short-form content, headlines, and descriptions for podcast editorial channels on and off Spotify.
  • Oversee the creation of all editorial content in our monthly newsletter.
  • Maintain podcast editorial style guide inclusive of tone, style, accessibility, and inclusion guidelines.
  • Work with podcast editors to create a distinct tone and voice for their podcast communities and genres.
  • Interview podcast host and listeners – telling stories about and around podcasts on Spotify.
  • Commission freelance writers for written editorial features.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data  to identify potential storytelling opportunities and topics that listeners would enjoy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with copy editors in other teams on company-wide initiatives (e.g. Wrapped).

What You’ll Bring

  • A passion for audio, podcasts, and a willingness to learn and listen to all types of podcasts on Spotify.
  • A passion for community building and human-centered storytelling.
  • Interest in pop culture, entertainment, music, gaming, and knowledge of consumer trends.
  • Experience creating content for digital platforms, publishers, or channels.
  • Experience with social, publisher, and/or web analytics and tools.
  • Prior experience creating for global audiences.
  • Experience working with and on distributed teams.
  • Experience in editorial or as a writer/editor, content strategist, or content creator.
  • Experience developing content strategies and editorial plans.
  • An ability to collaborate with a diverse group of internal stakeholders and teams. The ability to problem solve, gain consensus, and influence others.
  • Enthusiasm for trying new things, taking risks, and a willingness to learn from successes and failures.
  • Minimum 5 years of editorial experience as and editor / writer.
