Our Engineering & Tech Operations team builds and operates complex solutions for global business challenges that cross cultures, legal jurisdictions, and impacts millions of people and businesses every day. As a Database Administrator at DocuSign you will work with a group of like-minded peers to help support the existing database infrastructure, while designing the next version of the infrastructure. We have no down time and demand very high availability from our system (we strive for five 9s). When not supporting the existing systems, you will help collaborate with engineering, architecture and product management to create the next great platform features that will drive impact. You will share in an โ€œOn Callโ€ rotation to support the platform 24X7. We are pushing the boundaries of whatโ€™s possible with SQL server and this position will push your SQL skills to the next level.

This position is an individual role, reporting to the Senior. Manager, Software Engineering, Infrastructure and is designated Flex (Hybrid)/Remote in France, Germany or Ireland.

Responsibility

  • Provide database monitoring & support of multiple 24/7 Enterprise SQL Server AlwaysOn availability groups; by troubleshooting issues as they occur, responding to user questions, carrying out data requests and resolving problems
  • Maintain database performance; by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum parameter values; evaluating new release code, answering user questions
  • Develop database solutions by designing proposed systems; defining database structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up and recovery specifications
  • Ensure all database systems meet (RPO & RTO) policies
  • Participate in CIS, ISO, STIG, PCI & IRAP information security compliance work as needed
  • Maintains DBA knowledge base and creation of Standard Operating Procedures as necessary
  • Work with the engineering team to design and optimize SQL solutions
  • Work with the operations team to manage, install and configure servers in multiple data centers around the world
  • Participate in an โ€œOn Call rotationโ€ after-hours and at weekends
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations

What you bring

Basic:

  • Experience as a SQL Server administrator and Production Support DBA, experience with SQL 2016, 2017 & 2019. Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instances is a plus
  • Hands-on experience administering AlwaysOn availability groups
  • Understanding of server setup and configuration for optimal resource usage
  • Proven ability in database monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
  • Good knowledge of optimal database design

Preferred:

  • In depth knowledge of backing up, restoring, and moving SQL databases along with the ability to plan and implement sophisticated Disaster Recovery strategies
  • Experience using SolarWinds SQL Sentry to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve performance issues
  • High level knowledge of Windows and Windows security and how they affect SQL Server
  • Possess a strong understanding of database theories, principles, and best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as collaboratively. A strong team player
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting
  • Experiencing administering servers with Windows Server Core operating system
  • Experience in setup, configuration and maintenance of Azure Managed Instances is a plus.
