About Buzzer

Live sports. Real-time notifications. Personalized to your preferences. Don't miss.

You’re deeply curious about sports and technology. You’re passionate about creating fan-centric experiences that will make Buzzer the ultimate solution for fans to gather around live sports.  You’re experienced in collecting and understanding consumer insights and quantitative data to really get into the mind of the Buzzer user, and you’re a strategic thinker who considers what we should be building and why we should build it. You care about big-picture concepts and pixel-level details, transforming complex problems into experiences that are approachable and fun to use. You’re a strong cross-functional collaborator and communicator who enjoys working with product management, technology, and commercial teams to create innovative, consumer-friendly products, contributing to a one-team culture and helping everyone around you get better at what they do.

About The Role:

Product designers at Buzzer are involved in the entire process of creating a great fan experience. You’ll do hands-on consumer research and will help lead and drive ideation and validation of new opportunities. You’ll partner closely with product managers, technologists, and commercial leads, creating sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and comps that define what Buzzer users will actually see and feel as they experience our app both while live games are happening and throughout the rest of their sports day.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Influence and shape the Buzzer product by partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners to identify key opportunities and develop compelling solutions, all informed by consumer insights and quantitative data.
  • Communicate and conduct research directly with users to understand pain points and craft usable, accessible solutions
  • Brainstorm, sketch, prototype, and build designs that inform and communicate product requirements
  • Communicate the reasoning behind the solutions you create, ensuring they align with product vision and data you’ve gathered, accepting and integrating feedback while adhering to usability best practices
  • Participate fully in the development and iteration process, working with speed and urgency to ensure technology partners have the clarity and understanding they need to deliver the intended experience, and assuring the quality of the experience that’s delivered
  • Have a focus on delivery, bringing product to market and learning from user behavior as quickly as possible
  • Be a relentless advocate for great user experience, understanding constraints and respectfully challenging the status quo
  • Work closely with data teams to create concepts for a/b testing and understand how to evolve designs based on actual user behavior
  • Aligning product design with external marketing activities, including creating ad hoc brand assets as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6-8 years of product design experience crafting consumer-facing products, with a strong emphasis on mobile applications and video experiences
  • Proven track record of bringing designs to fruition, leading the process of solving complex user problems and creating successful outcomes for users and for your business with speed and urgency.
  • Strong visual design aesthetics combined with well-rounded UX knowhow, including ability to create wireframes, user journey maps, design comps, and interactive prototypes.
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating experience with interactive design across a variety of screens and transactional models.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong ability to gain internal support, communicate clearly, receive and implement feedback, and establish a solid working relationship with the broader Buzzer team
  • Expertise using design and collaboration tools like Figma, FigJam and Miro
  • Solid knowledge around modern forms of product discovery, product planning, product development, and customer delivery processes.

About Strive: Buzzer’s Commitment to Social Impact

Strive is an intentional and impactful initiative that will utilize Buzzer’s unifying platform to invest in equitable outcomes for Black, Indigenous and People of Color. Buzzer is dedicated to leveling the playing field through our company’s mission, values, product and financial tools in order to create more opportunities for communities of color. Strive will serve as that vehicle for Buzzer to drive positive change and outcomes in our society.

Our Strive Impact Model is designed to invest in these communities through three strategies:

  • Equity: 1% of the company’s equity will be protected and allocated to ‘leveling the playing field.’ This fund will ensure that Strive is prioritized and scales at the same rate of our growth. The reinvestment will support Strive’s mission, partners and causes. As our investment in this area grows, the company grows.
  • Net Profits: 1% of net profits will be reinvested into partnering non-profits focused on enhancing and empowering Black communities and communities of color. This near-term solution is meant to partner and contribute to impactful organizations that are providing resources and support for our future leaders and customers.
  • Consumer Engagement: Invite participation and engagement from each and every Buzzer customer to effect change through partnerships with non-profit organizations aligned to Strive’s mission and vision. The ambition of this commitment is to leverage the Buzzer product to highlight opportunities for consumers to engage with and learn about organizations that are investing in communities of color.
