Messenger Brand IPB is focused on concepting, developing, and delivering new experiences in messaging. We partner closely with Product Design, Product Management, Research, and Engineering to identify people problems, uncover opportunities, test hypotheses and ultimately deliver a compelling experience that help people feel closer together when they’re physically apart. When needed, we partner with external specialists to deliver on tactical work. We leverage a deep strategic knowledge of visual design, animation, and systems brand thinking. We look at opportunities through the lens of a holistic brand experience – and how to connect experiences to the platform of the brand. Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the development and maintenance of the in-product illustration system, the stickers program, expression tools, and other in-product promotions. The Managing Art Director will be responsible for extending our brand expression system in product and for innovating new expression tools for our users. You will be a lead partner with product design to apply brand experience in product, driving creative innovation/experience projects and delivering brand guidance while working with multiple cross-functional partners. You’ll also have multidisciplinary projects that bridge brand work across interactive and digital applications. The ideal candidate has the ability to think systematically and can articulate design decisions and iterate quickly. You’ll cover the design spectrum–from quick, rough strategic ideation to polished final deliverables–we’ll look for work that thinks big and gets attention, but also follows a conceptual thread down to the smallest details. Candidates should have broad experience working on a variety of projects with multiple partners and on tight timelines. The ideal candidate has the ability to drive progress within a cross-functional landscape – they should be comfortable working in ambiguous environments, have a strong point of view and should be able to drive clarity through consensus. You will work independently but also collaborate closely with designers, engineers, content design to define and ensure a coherent brand expression across our ecosystem. On occasion you will manage external partners/agencies on the development of brand related work.

  • Concepting, prototyping and executing brand experiences in product.
  • People-managing of the team that reports to you including career growth, goal-setting and feedback.
  • Extending brand expression system to interactive digital experiences.
  • Ideating visual concepts and refining design work based on creative direction.
  • Working cross-functionally and collaborating with internal and external team members.
  • Working independently, keeping project timelines on track and showing process.
  • Clearly articulating strategic thinking and design decisions to a variety of partners.
  • Managing and guiding the work and careers of your team.
  • Directing work created by a team of motion designers, designers, illustrators and/or external agency partners.
  • 5+ years experience with product, branding, interactive or communication design.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates product, branding, communication design experience.
  • A track record of launching successful interactive projects.
  • A proven track record of digital and/or product innovation.
  • Experience with Figma and other prototyping tools.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge with iOS, Android.
  • Motion experience with AfterEffects or Cinema4D.
  • Experience with Origami Studio or any other prototyping tool.
  • Experience creating user flows.
