As a Senior Financial Analyst at 1Password, you will be a key member of our growing Finance/Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented, eager accounting professional to have a significant impact in a fast-growing organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, management and compliance of our equity compensation program. You’ll be reporting directly to the Director of Finance and work closely with the legal team and other stakeholders company-wide.

This is a Remote opportunity within Canada and United States.

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience in finance (CPA designation and Big 4 accounting firm experience is ideal).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with US GAAP accounting for equity, stock based compensation, business combinations and other complex transactions.
  • Experience with equity administration in a private and public company setting.
  • An understanding of technical accounting concepts in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS, and the ability to research accounting topics.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple competing priorities while being flexible and resilient.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision while adhering to necessary deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, accuracy, and process improvement skills.
  • A knack for learning things on your own and quickly adapting to new environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to demonstrate team teamwork skills in a growing team.
  • Advanced expertise with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, experience with NetSuite and Carta/Shareworks is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the tech industry is considered an asset.

What you can expect:

  • Be the US GAAP expert for all things related to equity – Understand and analyze the types of equity instruments held by the company for US GAAP compliance and financial reporting:
  • Perform month-end close process including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations related to equity.
  • Prepare account reconciliations for equity-related accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assist in preparing timely and accurate internal monthly financial reporting for the organization.
  • Assist in the creation of the year-end and quarterly financial statements, related notes, and backup schedules related to equity.
  • Manage the equity program:
  • Create and update policy and process documentation for a formalized equity process
  • Own the integrity and accuracy of equity data in Carta including the equity plan and capitalization table
  • Manage confidential data rooms, disclosures and employee equity communications
  • Process activities and transactions related to equity (i.e., grants, exercises) and ensure accurate and timely tax withholding and reporting to Payroll
  • Support investor requests for equity confirmations in connection with their own audit requirements.
  • Ad-Hoc:
  • Generate recurring reports for multiple internal and external corporate partners (e.g., Board, HR, Payroll, Tax, Finance, Accounting, etc.), and respond to ad-hoc data requests on a timely basis.
  • Provide excellent customer service to equity participants at all levels and to partners across departments and respond quickly to employee questions.
  • Ability to provide assistance with cross-functional ad-hoc projects
  • Participation in significant transactions such mergers and acquisitions and financings
