As a Senior Engineering Manager at CareRev you will be responsible for managing the people and projects on 2-3 product delivery teams (about 8-12 total people). You will work closely with individuals to help them achieve their absolute best at CareRev. You will solicit feedback, assess it, and together with the individuals you manage help put together a program of high achievement and stellar career growth. Additionally, you will be deep in the weeds with your teams day to day, helping to break down work and establish and monitor metrics for your team’s functional areas and team performance. Working closely with your engineering management peers, you’ll gather feedback from your teams and help continuously evolve the engineering organization.You will engage with other departments to ensure understanding and alignment across the company. What You’ll Do:

  • Develop a robust teamΒ to reach their highest potential by implementing roadmaps, individual/team, and a vision for the function.
  • Build and create a functionΒ that strives to reach their highest potential by providing support, tools, and insights to the team.
  • Drive the deliveryΒ of features and bug fixes by working with the engineers, product managers, and designers on your teams to weigh scope, time, cost, resources, quality, and risk
  • Have expert knowledge of your projectsΒ – what needs to happen next, what’s done, who’s doing what, where the hidden challenges lie
  • Apply your deep understandingΒ of cutting-edge tools, methodologies, and skillsets to create a diverse team with achievable goals.
  • Forecast the needs of your team;Β from creating value propositions for new roles to leveling the role and team accordingly.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience building, managing, and mentoring 2 or more high-performing engineering teams in a high-growth start-up.
  • 5+ years of hands-on coding experience with at least 2+ years on building and shipping Ruby on Rails apps or equivalent in production.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and provide actionable goals for your team that relates to your function and the overall vision for the company.
  • Excellent people manager with a record of building, managing, and retaining talent.
  • Deep understanding and utilization of various engineering and project management tools and methodologies.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a strong ability to articulate complex ideas to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • A strong bias towards breaking down projects into smaller deliverables and shipping code often, but not recklessly
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

It would be even better if you have…

  • B2C experience is good, but B2B is even better
  • 2+ years in a Healthcare startup. Industry knowledge is not required, but is especially helpful when it comes to healthcare.
  • Functional programming experience (or at least enthusiasm).
  • Strong understanding of CI and build pipelines
  • Solid working knowledge of containerization, k8s, and general cloud engineering principles (ideally via AWS)
  • Experience establishing and maintaining engineering metrics

The anticipated salary range for this position is $123,000.00 – $254,000.00. Equity, bonus or commission and benefits may also be provided as part of the total compensation package, depending on the position offered. If given an offer, the exact salary amount offered will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s skills, experience, education and other qualifications as well as the candidate’s location of residence.
