We’re looking for a service-oriented Senior Director to lead HR Operations. In this role, you will lead HR strategy, total rewards, talent acquisition, HRIS, compliance, and administration for our global workforce. As our organization is growing rapidly, we need someone with an eye for processes and systems that are both stage appropriate and can scale as we grow. While the role will initially be that of an individual contributor, we expect the team to grow. You’ll get to draw the blueprint. Responsibilities

  • HR Strategy: You will help devise and deliver a best-in-class HR/People strategy, that focuses on employee engagement, transparency, and continuous improvement in how we deliver a seamless experience across all functions and locations.
  • Talent Acquisition: You will work with our outsourced talent acquisition team to deliver a coordinated strategy that presents Astronomer in the best light.
  • Total Rewards: Not only will you be the person employees turn to when they have questions about pay and benefits, but you’ll also be responsible for ensuring that our compensation, perks, and benefits are relevant to our team and competitive in the market. You’ll establish compensation bands and track internal equity, select benefits offerings and coordinate open enrollment, and advise on perks that are stage appropriate.
  • Global Expansion: Our search for great talent is taking us all over the world. We don’t expect anyone to be an expert on HR practices in every country where we hire someone. That’s why you’ll partner with international PEOs and EORs to ensure legal compliance and mutually rewarding terms of employment.
  • Learning & Development: You will lead our program to provide continuous learning and career development opportunities for our employees.
  • Policies and Compliance: You’ll draft policies that are both legally compliant and congruent with our culture and values. You will be our internal expert on employment regulations by staying up to date with employment legislation and trends, with support from third-party EORs and legal counsel – both in the US and in the countries where we operate. You’ll educate employees on our policies and the resources available to them, and advise managers of their responsibilities, to ensure an equitable and productive workplace.
  • HRIS: You’ll have the opportunity to implement our new HRIS systems to aid in our global expansion. Initially, you will be the HRIS administrator, ensuring our processes are efficient, integrated, and aligned.
  • HR Administration: You’ll create and streamline processes, and direct two HR Operations specialist to support our employees with their day-to-day needs. From processing new hires to terminations – and most things in between – you’ll make sure every “i” is dotted and every “t” is crossed. Duties will include entering employees into HRIS systems, verifying employment, reporting, updating 401k withholdings, processing leaves of absence, updating employee records, coordinating immigration-related activities, and other HR administrative duties as required.

Requirements

  • Experience building and scaling the HR function globally for a high-growth startup
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience designing and administering competitive compensation and benefits packages
  • Knowledge of various People Products and their features and limitations
  • Detail-oriented and process driven
  • Ability to handle sensitive data with confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Human Resources
  • Certification in HR is preferred

  • Experience managing HR in the tech sector
