  • Valvoline World Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY, but we invite remote candidates to apply as well. Ideally, we would like candidates located in nearby markets (Cincinnati, Louisville, and Nashville), but we are open to other locations.

How You’ll Make an Impact

The ForgeRock and JavaEE Developer supports the manager in the end-to-end landscape management, technology strategy, architecture, delivery and on-going operations of the ForgeRock and JavaEE applications and platforms. This role provides technical expertise for system and software design, coding, testing, implementation and support, being his/her primary focus during the design and development phases of projects and on user support. This role will be responsible for debugging issues that arise with the code, tooling or architecture used to create the applications. This role will interact with business partners to outline their requirements and during the development phase, to ensure accuracy and delivery of those recorded requirements. In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Ensuring daily operations remain stable by providing day-to-day technical support for the ForgeRock and JavaEE applications, platforms, and associated services in scope by working directly with users to identify, research, troubleshoot and resolve issues, which may require interaction with other internal IT teams, managed service provider(s) and vendors to resolve. This includes monitoring Service Now queue for assigned incidents and ensuring they are assigned and addressed per defined service level agreements. Assist with maintaining application support processes. Use application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Handle on call responsibility for area of responsibility as necessary.
  • Assisting with requirements definition, gathering and prioritization activities by collaborating with product owners and business partners. Follow established standards, applying appropriate techniques to elicit and document detailPerform functional and technical gap analysis between requirements and the OOTB features to identify the configuration, customizations, extensions, and interfaces required to deliver the requirements.   • Designing, coding, verifying, testing, documenting, enhancing and refactoring ForgeRock and JavaEE applications and services. Apply and adhere to coding standards and Software Development Life Cycle policies/procedures/tools to achieve a well-engineered result. Collaborate in reviews of work with others as appropriate.
  • Performing code reviews for and mentor junior team members.
  • Ensuring builds and hotfixes are deployed to the production environment in a controlled and timely manner. Attend Change and Release Management meetings for production deployments as required.
  • Carrying out necessary applications maintenance and administration tasks such as preparing and performing platform upgrades, executing system administration activities for business partners, and fulfilling data requests by the business stakeholders that cannot be self-served.
  • Providing subject matter expertise and technical solution leadership for the ForgeRock and JavaEE development technologies. Provide detailed and specific advice and technical best practices regarding the application of the development technologies. Collaborate with other specialists, where appropriate, to ensure advice given is appropriate to the needs of the organization.
  • Working closely with IT security, infrastructure, application teams and cross-functional stakeholders to execute and deliver small projects and initiatives, while ensuring alignment with all best practices, compliance with industry standards/applicable certifications and providing quality and efficient end-to-end solutions. Assist team in creating strategy and roadmap which includes hardware and software evaluations and recommendations on upgrades or improvements to infrastructure. May act as the Technical lead for a segment of a larger project.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business Administration (or higher) in an IT related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in applying information technology solutions in a manufacturing or retail industry
  • 5+ years of experience in Java, Angular and/or RESTful APIs or other relevant development technologies
  • Has a full-stack orientation: able to follow data from its raw state to the way it’s presented to our users

Experience With:

  • Session Replay such as LogRocket or Dynatrace
  • Object-oriented design development
  • System/process documentation
  • Service side architectures and system design and development
  • Documenting processes and translating to high level technical requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with web services, RESTful APIs, and service-oriented architecture
  • Knowledge and experience with Software Development Life Cycle
