About the Job

TaskRabbit’s PR & Communications Specialist will manage day-to-day public relations and corporate communications activities, focused mostly on brand and consumer media relations and storytelling, along with a mix of executive and internal communications responsibilities. You should be well-versed in media relations, with a deep understanding of the media landscape and what it takes to create an ongoing drumbeat of coverage in all media types, including long-lead magazines, national and local print, online news outlets, and broadcast media. You love to stay on top of the latest cultural trends and possess keen knowledge as to how to create buzz in an impactful way. You have a mind for creating and sharing relevant content that connects TaskRabbit to key moments and topics that matter to our consumers, the community, and of course, the media.

The PR & Communications Specialist will support the PR & Communications Manager to ideate, develop and execute proactive and creative PR campaigns, media relations programs, influencer programs, and other exciting initiatives. As part of the Marketing team, you also will work cross-functionally with internal partners to participate in idea generation, monthly and annual planning, and business analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft initiatives, seasonal, and project PR plans
  • Work with agency partners to manage inbound press inquiries and proactive press outreach efforts, including drafting pitches, quotes, and responses, and setting up spokesperson interviews
  • Research and draft press releases, talking points, Q&As, fact sheets, blog posts, and other written materials
  • Develop and pitch story ideas to media to support seasonal brand and product priorities and major company initiatives
  • Create, develop, and source materials for proactive press outreach, including digital press kits, creative mailings, photo, video, data, and graphics
  • Coordinate with Brand Partnerships & Influencer teams seeking PR opportunities
  • Help manage Public Relations agency in the US
  • Monitor and maintain all media coverage, and produce results reports that demonstrate the effectiveness of PR efforts, and inform and inspire the internal team
  • Assist with crisis comms planning and communications
  • Help develop and execute Affiliate Marketing program

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in PR, communications, and media relations, at an agency or in-house consumer technology or lifestyle brand
  • Poise, professionalism, and composure to work with senior executives and major media
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to determine solutions independently, think creatively, and implement rapidly
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Existing relationships with consumer, lifestyle, business, and technology press
  • Familiarity and skill with the tools of the trade in PR, including media monitoring and reporting software such as Muck Rack, press release distribution platforms, and market research companies
  • Experience working with all types of influencers, including media, bloggers, and social/digital influencers
  • Knowledge in social media marketing is a plus
  • Ability to proactively develop relationships with editors, journalists, influencers, corporate partners, and other key stakeholders
  • Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism/PR, or marketing preferred
