Our client has an urgent need for 2 Project Managers. This is slated to start out as a 6 month contract, but they do plan on converting if these candidates work out. Local to San Diego is preferred, or someone that is willing to fly to San Diego once a quarter (they will fly you out).

Description:

The Technical Project Manager reports to the Director of DevOps and Infrastructure. They are responsible for planning, executing and reporting on cross-functional projects within the DevOps organization.ย They will be able to understand complex technical concepts, motivate stakeholders, identify and mitigate project risks and lead by example. He or she possesses a mix of technical acumen, communication skills and leadership to be able to create a compelling project vision and lead teams to success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Develop project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
  • Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables.
  • Communicate proactively with all involved personnel to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Review proposed modifications on project plans, including meeting with interested parties to approve and implement beneficial changes.
  • Oversee acquisition of resources and materials as needed before and during projects by talking with internal stakeholders, team members, managers, and vendors.
  • Anticipate details of future projects by communicating directly with customers and staying informed of relevant trends and industry news.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Senior Project Manager with at least 6 years of overall experience, and 3+ years of Atlassian experience (JIRA and Confluence). Strong experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment with software /devops/systems and/or IT teams. This will be working on IT and DevOps related projects, so you must have a strong understanding of technical terminology.
  • Degree not required, but a PMP certification would be nice to have!
  • 3+ years AGILE/Scrum/DevOps project management
  • 3+ years writing project ingress processes and workflows
  • 2+ years performing portfolio management
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate at all organizational levels โ€“ PowerPoint deck writing a must
  • Team player: he or she should be able to communicate, lead and coach other team members, present to non-technical audience including customers, executives
  • Solution-oriented, constructive approach to problem-solving
  • Familiarity with release management is highly preferred
