We are looking for an experienced professional for our Product Owner role at flooid.

We are seeking a professional who has a broad understanding of Retail Technology, industy best practices, and technology designs.

The Product Owner role spans a wide range of business and technical disciplines including defining product strategy and the roadmap for Flooid’s Core platform which encompasses our internal, external, hybrid and processing services. The product owner will drive the product forward according to the product lifecycle management process, working collaboratively on product design, business development and ensuring success of products in the marketplace. The product owner will also participate in an Agile environment as part of a multi-disciplined team to identify and manage business requirements through their life cycle from initial analysis, documentation and development through testing and demonstration in partnership with the business analysis function.

The product owner will identify and define requirements at a theme and epic level informed by the market, the competition, current and prospective customers, and a general understanding of trends that are driving modern retail software to solve real world retail challenges. Partnerships with third party solution providers enable Flooid to extend and enhance the value of our headless commerce platform and the product owner will be expected to work with our partners to ensure roadmap alignment and continued profitability and value for our joint customers as well as identify new value-added partnerships.


In liaison with assigned business and technical resources, and as directed by product management:

Develop a roadmap and drive the product forward by:

  • Identifying and defining business and technical requirements informed by the market, industry, customers and internal stakeholders
  • Understanding and applying product lifecycle management tools, framework, concepts
  • Collaborating with business analysts, architects, and engineers to optimize the ongoing growth and development of the product to meet defined requirements and committed roadmaps

Core Responsibilities include:

  • Researching and remaining current on industry and technology trends, requirements and challenges and ensuring Flooid has alignment to ensure continued growth of our business and sale of our products
  • Generating a roadmap comprised of themes, epics and features that aligns to the requirements of the business and our retail customers and markets we serve
  • Eliciting clear and concise requirements, delivery of which provides a solution that meets business needs and drives benefit for the product and users of the product both technically and functionally
  • Documenting and facilitating the production of innovative retail software solutions, producing Process Flows where necessary and contributing to the data, technical, architectural and functional collateral required to support the ongoing lifecycle of the product portfolio
  • Evangelizing and advocating for Flooid’s platform with internal and external customers
  • Training and educating customers and colleagues on the current product capabilities as well as ongoing new capabilities as development occurs
  • Maintaining scope of, and communicating changes to, agreed requirements
  • Contributing to Agile ceremonies in the role of product owner

Collaborate with the development team members by:

  • Identifying and defining acceptance criteria, including happy path, alternate, error handling/offline and relevant configurations in conjunction with business analysts
  • Supporting the principles of quality by design, security by design and privacy by design for optimal software development
  • Working with Quality Assurance and the business analysts to triage defects and identify scope changes
  • Supporting the Quality Assurance Team by assisting with testing success criteria and scripts where appropriate
  • Pro-actively ensuring product definition of done is met

Support Team/Project/Product Management by:

  • Contributing to the definition and ordering of the team’s backlog
  • Leading the Agile requirements refinement process
  • Actively participating in Sprint planning meetings
  • Carrying out sprint reviews/demos with the customer and company as required

Have financial awareness of:

  • R&D budgets and expenses associated with product development
  • Financial impact of estimates for development
  • Company performance

Have basic business and technical knowledge in:

  • Retail store operations including point of sale, inventory management, operational reporting, performance and throughput optimization, security and loss prevention, profitability and sales
  • Services based technologies including REST, JSON and Cloud environments
  • The Flooid core Product solutions
  • Technical components that enable and drive the ability to perform key functionality required by the platform

Build and maintain an excellent relationship with both internal and external customers by:

  • Assisting with demonstrations as requested
  • Conducting off site visits to customers as required
  • Ensuring the proposed solution meets the business purpose/benefit
  • Iteratively refining requirements prior to development
  • Answering customer questions regarding product functionality in a timely manner


  • Responsible for ensuring that any legal requirements and corporate strategy is adhered to when recommending change



  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business Analysis, technology and/or the retail industry
  • Willingness to learn, curious
  • A responsible, professional attitude towards all work with a willingness to take ownership and accountability for actions and work
  • Experience working with project methodologies and knowledge of Agile software development environment
  • Good root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Good decision maker with the ability to propose considered and creative solutions to suit both business needs and Flooid strategy
  • Strong in all communication skills: verbal, listening and written
  • Willing to ask questions and challenge opinions, with the ability to structure questions effectively
  • Enthusiastic and energetic team player who can interact effectively and positively with people of all levels and abilities both internally and externally
  • Strong planning, organizing, time and workload management skills, with the ability to delegate work where appropriate
  • Practical and structured approach to all aspects of the job role
  • Agile techniques such as defining user stories and acceptance criteria, story mapping, wire framing
  • Excellent customer focus
  • The ability to work under direction or independently and be self-motivated
  • The ability to provide accurate BA estimates
  • Identifies, understands, communicates and drives change where required
  • Maintains determination and performance under stress
  • Provides balance between customer needs and Flooid operational interests
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and understands the impact on the customer/business if there is a delay
  • Demonstrates dedication and determination to overcome obstacles and get the job done
  • Manages multiple workstreams/features concurrently when needed
  • Requires a valid driver license, the ability to operate a motor vehicle, and travel


  • Experience in a retail supermarket or specialty environment software development, presales, or product management
  • Experience with global markets/users
  • Understands the importance of usability and efficiency in design, following product standards
  • Experience of working within a collaborative team environment
