The Senior Content Specialist is responsible for the creation of content and continuous innovation of online courses for Lexia’s professional learning program for educators. The role is responsible for collaborating with other Content team members to ensure that the content aligns with standards, best practices, and the latest research around the science of reading. The Senior Content Specialist role will require comprehensive knowledge of literacy instruction that is informed by the Science of Reading as well as a strong commitment to ensuring equitable literacy instruction for all students.

Responsibilities 

  • Write and revise content for online courses for educators
  • Produce educator companion documents for courses
  • Contribute to scripts for instructional videos
  • Author supplemental classroom application resources
  • Track future changes or additions to courses beyond the initial releases
  • Author content that aligns to industry standards of adult learning, accessibility and inclusive design
  • Stay up to date on the latest research and trends in literacy development, particularly around the science of reading, consolidating information from the market, educators, and industry leaders as well as product research and feedback to better develop and enhance content
  • Maintain knowledge around application of content, products within purview, and professional learning trends through ongoing professional development and observations of program use

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in elementary, secondary, or special education and/or speech-language pathology
  • 8+ years of combined experience as a K-8 educator and developer of professional learning content
  • Substantial experience with reading science and andragogy
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and G Suite (Google Drive, Google Docs)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to think creatively and write compelling, engaging content for educators
  • Experience developing content for adult learners
