And for God’s sake, enable multifactor authentication everywhere that supports it—email, VPN, cloud storage—because passwords alone are laughable now.

I’ve seen those matter more than a fancy Wi-Fi password. Use 2FA on work logins, full-disk encryption on laptops, automatic OS/app updates, and a company-approved VPN only if your employer wants it.

People obsess over the router and ignore the devices. That’s backwards. If you’re using personal gear, keep work in a separate user profile or separate machine, lock screens after 5 minutes, turn on firewall and endpoint protection, and back up data weekly so one ransomware hit doesn’t wipe out 100% of your week.
