# Why do employers require company-managed devices instead of BYOD?

For remote workers, pushing back means understanding this game: demand transparency not just on what data is collected but how it’s weaponized, question indefinite access to personal info, and seek technical measures that isolate work apps without ceding full system control. Otherwise, you’re living inside a corporate panopticon where even a leak of “personal data” can be spun into leverage against you.
