Question details I am applying for entry-level project coordinator roles and have finished most of a recognized certification course, but I have not taken the exam. Should I list the coursework on my resume, and how can I phrase it without implying that I am certified?

Copy answer link Report answer Include it only if you can name the actual training provider, course, and completion status without using the certification title or initials. For example: “Project Management Fundamentals, [Provider], completed 2024; certification exam not yet taken.” Put it under Professional Development, not Certifications.

The deciding fact is whether you completed the provider’s full required coursework or only part of it. If it was partial, say “completed modules in” rather than “course completed,” and be ready to explain what remains. Have you finished every required course component?

Copy answer link Report answer Is the certification provider’s official wording clear about whether coursework alone is recognized? List it only if you label it as “Coursework completed, certification exam not yet taken” under Professional Development. The main risk is recruiters reading a credential claim, so omit the initials and any certification title.

Copy answer link Report answer List the course under Education or Professional Development as “[Certification name] coursework completed; exam pending.” Don’t use “certified” or the credential initials until you pass. The key criterion is whether the wording clearly separates training from certification. Is the exam already scheduled?
