# Repeated rescheduling before a final interview

[Interviews](https://jobicy.com/question-category/interviews.md) Asked 4 Aug 2026 Active 4 Aug 2026 [Write an answer](#answer-form-container) [Log in to vote](https://jobicy.com/enter4715.php.md)

Question details A company has moved my final interview three times over two weeks. Each time, the recruiter apologizes and says an interviewer became unavailable, but no one has explained whether the role or hiring timeline has changed.

Is this level of rescheduling normal for a final interview, or is it a warning sign that the position may be paused or poorly managed? What should I ask before agreeing to another date?

Copy answer link Report answer A final interview sounds like the finish line, but repeated moves are mainly useful as a test of how clearly the company manages candidates. Three reschedules can happen when senior interviewers have shifting calendars; the concern is the lack of information about whether the role is still active and who is driving the process.

Before agreeing, ask the recruiter directly: “Is the role still approved and actively moving toward a hire? Has the interview panel or decision timeline changed? What needs to happen after this interview, and when should I expect an update?” Also ask whether the new time is confirmed with everyone required to attend. If they answer plainly and offer a firm date, accept it. If they stay vague or reschedule again, keep pursuing other opportunities and ask them to reconnect once they can confirm a real timeline.

Copy answer link Report answer If they cannot name a confirmed decision date, treat this as a process-risk signal. Example: ask whether the requisition remains approved and what event must occur before interviews resume.

Copy answer link Report answer If the same decision-maker is repeatedly unavailable, ask whether that person is still committed to the hire and whether the role has an approved start date. Three moves can be ordinary scheduling trouble, but the key criterion is whether the recruiter can give a specific answer about the hiring decision and timeline. Before accepting another slot, ask: “Is the position still approved, who will make the final decision, and what date do you expect to decide by?” Vague answers are a reason to keep interviewing elsewhere.
