# Should I choose a rotating or fixed meeting schedule?

Question details I am joining a distributed team split between North America, Europe, and Asia, and the manager offered two ways to handle our weekly planning meeting. We can keep one fixed time that is convenient for my region but falls late in the evening for colleagues in Asia, or rotate the meeting time each month so the inconvenience is shared. I prefer the fixed slot because it would make my schedule predictable, but I worry it will look selfish and make collaboration harder with teammates who repeatedly have to attend outside normal hours. The rotating option seems fairer, yet it would interfere with client calls and recurring responsibilities I have on certain weeks. Which approach is better for building trust on an international team: predictable scheduling or rotating the burden?

Copy answer link Report answer A monthly rotation makes the late-evening burden visible and shared, which usually builds more trust than permanently assigning it to the Asia-based teammates. Predictability matters, but one region’s convenience should not become another region’s standing exception.

Use one criterion: choose the option where no location repeatedly absorbs the worst hours. Protect your client calls by agreeing on rotation dates well ahead of time, arranging coverage where needed, or using an async planning update during the weeks the rotating slot conflicts.
