As a Data Engineering Intern, I was responsible for developing and implementing data pipelines that incorporated cutting-edge technologies such as automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) and optical character recognition (OCR). One of my key projects involved developing an image pipeline that could process images of license plates captured by surveillance cameras in real-time, extract the license plate number using OCR, and store the data in a database for further analysis. To accomplish this, I designed and implemented an API that could handle requests from the surveillance cameras and return the extracted license plate number.
To develop the image pipeline, I worked with a team of data engineers and computer vision experts to design and implement a scalable and efficient system. We used open-source libraries such as OpenCV and Tesseract to develop algorithms that could detect license plates in images and extract the license plate number using OCR. We also used machine learning techniques to improve the accuracy and reliability of the system. The system was designed to handle large volumes of data in real-time and ensure data quality and integrity.
