Business Analysis includes requirements elicitation, stakeholder analysis, process modeling, data analysis, solution evaluation, and change impact assessment. This test concentrates on BPMN process modeling and workflow decision design, a practice used to clarify responsibilities, identify control points, expose handoffs, and align teams around an executable view of how work moves through a process.

### Instructions and covered skills

Read each scenario carefully before selecting a response. Focus on the meaning of BPMN elements and the behavior they represent in a workflow. Consider sequence, triggering conditions, participant boundaries, and alternative paths. Do not infer information that is not stated in the question. Turn off notifications and avoid interruptions while completing the test. Review your choice for consistency with BPMN notation before moving on.

### Key Areas

This test measures the ability to translate a business workflow into BPMN notation that stakeholders can interpret consistently. Candidates work with start, intermediate, and end events; tasks and subprocesses; sequence flows; message flows; pools; and lanes. The focus is not simply recognizing symbols, but selecting elements that accurately communicate how work is triggered, performed, routed, paused, completed, or stopped.

Strong process models distinguish participant boundaries from internal responsibilities. A pool represents a participant in a collaboration, while lanes organize responsibility inside a participant without creating separate processes. Candidates should be able to determine when an interaction requires a message flow and when an internal handoff should remain a sequence flow.

The test also addresses workflow decisions. Exclusive gateways represent a single selected path, parallel gateways coordinate paths that proceed together, and event-based gateways defer routing until a relevant event occurs. Questions examine how these routing patterns affect joins, exceptions, approvals, rework, escalation, and timing behavior.

Attention is also given to model clarity. A useful BPMN diagram has meaningful task names, explicit decision conditions, visible outcomes, and a scope appropriate for its audience. Models should reveal operational risks such as unclear ownership, missing rejection paths, unhandled time limits, and uncoordinated dependencies without adding decorative detail.

### Recommended Preparation

Review BPMN 2.0 symbol meanings and practice reading complete process diagrams from start event through end event. Compare sequence flows with message flows, pools with lanes, and tasks with subprocesses. Practice modeling approval workflows, service requests, order fulfillment, incident handling, and exception scenarios. Pay particular attention to the behavior of gateways when paths split and later rejoin. When reviewing a diagram, ask what triggers each activity, who performs it, what evidence determines a decision, what happens when work cannot continue, and how the process reaches a defined outcome. Use concise verb-object task labels, such as “Validate application” or “Send confirmation,” to make models easier to inspect and maintain.

### Examples of questions

1. Which BPMN element represents an event that begins a process?
2. When should a model use an exclusive gateway instead of a parallel gateway?
3. What does a sequence flow show within a BPMN pool?
4. Which element is most suitable for showing communication between separate participants?
5. How should a rejected request be represented after a review decision?
6. What is the purpose of a boundary event attached to an activity?
7. When is a subprocess useful in a BPMN diagram?
8. Which BPMN element identifies a role or organization participating in a process?
9. What does a timer intermediate event commonly represent?
10. How should a process model show two tasks that must both be completed before work continues? 03
