### Instructions and covered skills

Read each prompt carefully before selecting a response. Base your choices on job-related evidence, consistent interview practices, and clearly defined evaluation criteria. Stay focused on the scenario rather than assumptions about a candidate’s personality or background. Turn off notifications and avoid interruptions while completing the test. Choose the response that best supports a fair and repeatable interview process. Review your selection before moving on.

### Key Areas

This test measures the ability to design and use structured interviews that gather comparable, job-related evidence from every candidate. It covers translating a job analysis, competency model, or role profile into interview criteria that are observable and relevant to performance. Candidates should be able to distinguish behavioral questions, which ask about completed actions, from situational questions, which ask how a person would respond to a realistic work scenario.

The test also addresses question wording, neutral probing, and interviewer note-taking. Strong practice requires asking the same core questions in the same order while using appropriate follow-up prompts to clarify context, actions, decisions, and results. Notes should document what the candidate said rather than an interviewer’s unsupported impression. Questions and probes should avoid protected characteristics, personal assumptions, and details unrelated to the role.

A central focus is rubric design. Effective rubrics define a competency, identify behavioral indicators, and describe distinct score points using evidence that interviewers can recognize. They support consistent comparisons by separating the quality of a candidate’s evidence from charisma, similarity, confidence, or personal rapport. The test includes calibration practices that help interviewers interpret scoring criteria consistently before and after interviews.

### Recommended Preparation

Review a current job description and identify the responsibilities that have the clearest connection to successful performance. Practice converting those responsibilities into competencies and then into behavioral or situational questions. For each question, draft a scoring guide with observable indicators for stronger, mixed, and limited evidence. Check that each score description addresses the same competency and does not introduce unrelated traits.

Practice writing neutral probes such as requests for the candidate’s specific role, decision process, constraints, and measurable outcome. Review sample interview notes and separate factual statements from interpretations. Finally, simulate a panel calibration conversation: score the same response independently, compare the evidence each person recorded, and align interpretations with the rubric rather than preference. This preparation builds a repeatable process that supports equitable candidate evaluation and clearer hiring decisions.

### Examples of questions

1. What feature makes an interview question behaviorally anchored?
2. How should a rubric describe evidence at each score point?
3. Which source should guide the selection of interview competencies?
4. Why should interviewers ask each candidate the same core questions?
5. What is an effective follow-up question after a candidate gives a vague example?
6. How can a panel reduce differences in scoring interpretations?
7. What type of evidence should receive the strongest weight in a structured interview?
8. When should an interviewer record notes during an interview?
9. How should a scoring guide address partial evidence?
10. What is the purpose of a pre-interview calibration discussion? 03
