# How Do I Hide My Profile from Search Engines?

6 min read Updated Aug 17, 2026 Share Copy link Your Jobicy profile includes a Profile Visibility setting that controls whether identifying information about you is publicly visible on the internet.

If Public Mode is enabled, your profile information can be viewed by anyone online and may also be discovered and indexed by search engines such as Google.

If you prefer to keep your identity private, you can switch to Stealth Mode at any time.

## Public Mode

When Profile Visibility is turned on, Public Mode is active.

In Public Mode, identifying information included in your profile may be publicly visible, including details such as:

* your full name;
* profile photo;
* city;
* company names from your work history;
* education institutions;
* personal and social links.

Because the page is publicly accessible, search engines may crawl it and include information from the profile in their search results.

This means that searching for your name on Google or another search engine may return your Jobicy profile.

Search engines control their own crawling and indexing systems, so Jobicy cannot determine exactly when a public profile will first appear in search results.

## Stealth Mode

If you do not want identifying information from your Jobicy profile to be publicly associated with you, turn Profile Visibility off.

When the switch is turned off, Stealth Mode becomes active.

Stealth Mode does not delete your Jobicy profile. Instead, it allows you to keep a professional presence on Jobicy while hiding information that could directly identify you.

Your name is replaced with a confidential identity, your personal photo is hidden, and identifying details such as your city, company names, education institutions, and personal links are concealed. Professional information can remain available, such as your headline, skills, experience, education, tools, and other career-related information.

## How to switch to Stealth Mode

To hide your identifying information:

* Sign in to your Jobicy account.
* Open [My Profile](https://jobicy.com/my-profile#general.md).
* Find Profile Visibility under Basic Information.
* Turn the visibility switch off.

The change to Profile Visibility is applied separately from other profile edits.

Once Stealth Mode is active, visitors should no longer see the identifying details protected by Stealth Mode.

## Why can my Jobicy information still appear on Google after I activate Stealth Mode?

Search engines maintain their own indexes of pages they have previously crawled.

Changing your Jobicy profile does not instantly update a copy of the information that Google may already have stored in its search index.

For example, Google may temporarily continue showing:

* your previous name in a search result;
* an old page title or description;
* an outdated profile photo;
* a result triggered by information that is no longer publicly displayed on your Jobicy profile.

Google provides tools for refreshing search results when information on the original webpage has already been changed or removed.

In many cases, search engines will eventually recrawl the page and update their results automatically. If you would like us to request an update sooner, you can submit a search removal request to Jobicy.

## Requesting removal from Google Search

If your identifying information is still appearing in Google after you have enabled Stealth Mode, you can ask Jobicy to help request its removal from search results.

[Submit a Search Removal Request](https://forms.gle/6eUpDWMytFdxXxor5)

This form is sent to the Jobicy team. It is not a Google-operated form.

After receiving your request, we will review the affected profile and search result. If the information has been removed or hidden from the public Jobicy profile, we can manually submit the appropriate removal or refresh request to Google.

Google ultimately decides how and when its search results are updated. Submitting the form therefore does not guarantee immediate removal or a particular processing time.

## Before submitting a removal request

Please activate Stealth Mode first if you want identifying information removed from search results.

This is important because a search engine may continue to index information that remains publicly available on the original webpage. Google’s outdated-content process is intended for information that has already been removed or changed at its source.

If Public Mode remains active, your identifying information remains publicly available and may be indexed again even after an individual search result is removed.

The recommended order is therefore:

* Turn off Profile Visibility and activate Stealth Mode.
* Confirm that your identifying information is no longer publicly displayed on the Jobicy profile.
* Submit the Jobicy Search Removal Request form.
* Jobicy reviews the request and, where appropriate, manually submits a removal or refresh request to the search engine.
* Allow the search engine time to update its index.

## Does Stealth Mode delete my profile?

No.

Stealth Mode is designed to hide identifying information, not remove your professional profile entirely.

People may still be able to access the Jobicy profile page and view non-identifying professional information. Visitors are informed that the profile is in Stealth Mode and that identifying details have been hidden while professional information remains available.

If you want to permanently delete your Jobicy account or profile rather than hide your identity, use the account deletion options instead.

## Does removing a Google result delete my Jobicy profile?

No.

A search result and the webpage it points to are separate things.

Removing or refreshing a result in Google Search affects Google’s search index. It does not by itself delete the underlying Jobicy profile. Google makes the same distinction in its removal documentation.

Your Jobicy privacy preference should therefore always be changed directly through Profile Visibility, regardless of whether you also submit a search removal request.

## Can my information appear again if I reactivate Public Mode?

Yes.

If you switch Profile Visibility back on, your identifying information becomes publicly available again. Search engines may crawl the public profile and include it in future search results.

If you want your identifying information to remain unavailable to search engines, keep Stealth Mode enabled.

## What if another website copied my information?

Jobicy can control information displayed on Jobicy and can submit requests relating to Jobicy URLs.

If another website has copied, republished, or independently collected your information, removing it from your Jobicy profile does not automatically remove the copy hosted by that website.

You may need to contact the operator of the other website or use the relevant search engine’s personal-information removal process.

Google provides a separate process for requesting removal of certain personal information from its search results.

## What if I cannot find the Profile Visibility setting?

Make sure you are signed in to the Jobicy account that owns the profile.

Profile Visibility is available in your profile editor under Basic Information. The switch determines whether Public Mode or Stealth Mode is active.

If you are unable to change the setting or believe that identifying information remains visible while Stealth Mode is active, contact Jobicy Support.

## Quick summary

Want your profile to be discoverable publicly?
Keep Public Mode enabled. Your profile is visible to everyone online, including search engines.

Want to use Jobicy without publicly revealing your identity?
Turn Profile Visibility off and use Stealth Mode.

Already appearing in Google?
Activate Stealth Mode first, then submit the [Search Removal Request](https://forms.gle/6eUpDWMytFdxXxor5). The Jobicy team will review your request and manually submit the appropriate request to Google when applicable.

Changing Profile Visibility prevents the source profile from continuing to publicly expose the identifying details protected by Stealth Mode. Removing an older search result is a separate process because search engines maintain and update their own indexes.
