This role plays a crucial role in the overall financial management of the organization and will work closely with the Controller and other members of the finance and accounting team. ## Responsibilities: * Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger * Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports * Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and reconcile any discrepancies * Ensure compliance with GAAP, local, state, and federal regulations * Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns * Lead the annual audit process, working with external auditors to complete the process efficiently * Participate in the budgeting process, including preparation of budget reports and analysis of budget variances * Evaluate and implement new accounting procedures and systems to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting * Mentor and train accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure professional development ## Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field * 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role * Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation * Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills * Strong leadership and team management skills * Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar * CPA or MBA is a plus This job description is not exhaustive and the role may require the performance of other duties as assigned.
