Central Queensland Indigenous Development

At Central Queensland Indigenous Development (CQID), we are a proud Indigenous controlled community organisation dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Central Queensland and surrounding areas. Established in 2004, we began as a not-for-profit organisation managing the Community Development Employment Program (CDEP) in the region and have since grown into a dynamic organisation delivering a wide range of coordinated services.

Our team is deeply rooted in the community, with approximately 95% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, ensuring that our services are delivered with genuine cultural understanding, respect, and connection. We provide non-judgemental, culturally appropriate support covering areas such as child safety, community support, family support, alcohol and other drugs services, and community and economic development projects.

CQID operates eight offices located in Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Longreach, Maryborough, and Woorabinda, offering accessible services across the region. Our commitment extends to being a child-safe organisation, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children and young people above all else.

Our mission is to be a recognised provider and coordinator of quality services and best practice models specializing in Indigenous services, acknowledged as a leading agency by governments, stakeholders, and the community. We strive to deliver culturally appropriate, holistic services that generate social change and improve wellbeing in Indigenous Central Queensland communities.

We hold ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and certification in Human Services Quality Standards, demonstrating our dedication to quality management and care. Our values—cooperation and trust, sustainability, and self-actualisation—guide every aspect of our work, ensuring that we meet and exceed the expectations of those we serve.
