ManTech

ManTech International Corporation is an American defense contracting company, founded in 1968 by Franc Wertheimer and George J. Pedersen in New Jersey. It specializes in applying technology to support government and industry clients, especially within defense and intelligence sectors. The company name “ManTech” is derived from the combination of “management” and “technology.” ManTech went public with an initial public offering in February 2002 and has since grown significantly in size and revenue.

Headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, ManTech operates offices across 19 U.S. states and employs over 7,000 professionals worldwide, with presence in more than 20 countries. It supports more than 50 U.S. government agencies, including the Departments of Defense, State, Homeland Security, Energy, Justice, Veterans Affairs, Health and Human Services, and intelligence communities.

The company provides a broad range of services including cybersecurity, software and systems development, enterprise information technology, intelligence and counterintelligence, command and control systems (C4ISR), program protection, systems engineering, supply chain management, test and evaluation, training, and management consulting. ManTech has been involved in supporting telecommunications and technology solutions in military operations such as Operation Iraqi Freedom.

ManTech’s growth is reflected in its revenue, increasing from $431 million in 2001 to nearly $2 billion by 2018. In May 2022, the company agreed to be acquired by The Carlyle Group in a $3.9 billion deal. This acquisition represents a strategic move to further strengthen its position in the defense and technology sector while continuing to support critical federal missions.

The company is known for delivering innovative technology solutions tailored to complex government challenges, with a focus on mission assurance and operational readiness.
