Xerox

Xerox Corporation was founded in 1906 in Rochester, New York, where it also has its largest group of employees, although the company is currently headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut. Xerox pioneered the photocopier market with the introduction of the Xerox 914 in 1959, which was revolutionary in document technology and made the term ‘xerox’ synonymous with photocopying.

Over its history, Xerox has been a major innovator, with researchers at Xerox PARC inventing key personal computing elements such as the graphical user interface (GUI), computer mouse, and desktop computing concepts later adopted by major technology companies.

Today, Xerox operates in more than 145 countries with over 16,500 employees globally, generating billions in revenue. The company focuses mainly on document technology and document outsourcing services, including managed print services, where it holds a leading position worldwide.

In 2010, Xerox expanded by acquiring Affiliated Computer Services, a move that broadened its services. However, in 2016, it separated these business process services into Conduent, refocusing on its core document technology business.

The company’s mission tagline, “We make work, work,” reflects its commitment to enhancing workplace productivity through technology solutions and services. Xerox remains a Fortune 500 company and a globally recognized leader in its industry, continually evolving with advancements in document management and digital services.
