Performs the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of Linux and other Unix computer systems. Provides customer-facing and internal technical support for a diverse environment.
Duties
- Acting as a subject matter expert for Oracle Enterprise Linux and compatible systems in Cloud and Virtualized environments.
- Consult with the internal team and end-users to determine system requirements and specifications.
- Act as a member of a quick-response team. Will often work under demanding deadlines, operating independently to resolve complex problems.
- Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks or document procedural run-books for junior administrators.
- Be part of an on-call rotation.
- May be asked to mentor others or serve as a team lead, guiding the day-to-day activities of team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least ten (10) years of Linux administration experience. AIX experience is a plus. Oracle Linux, RedHat or LPIC certifications are a plus.
- Prior experience and success in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or advanced technical support environment is required. Must be familiar with working in a 24/7/365 environment and willing to participate in on-call rotations.
- At least one (1) year of experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, or other cloud providers.
- This is a customer-facing position and requires the ability to work with customers. Must be able to clearly summarize and communicate complex environments and issues to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
- Proven ability to understand, interpret, and glean results from complex technical relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage moderately complex projects involving UNIX systems.
- Configuration Management experience is a plus (Puppet, Ansible, or similar).
- Knowledge of security-related best practices. Security+ or ISC2 certifications are a plus.
- Strategic, tactical, operational, and financial understanding of an IT environment.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with change management processes and tools.
