The Compensation Manager will bring subject matter expertise in the design, delivery and support of innovative compensation programs that will enhance the employee experience.
In this role, we are looking for an incumbent that will have the aptitude to successfully lead projects from start to finish that support 1Password’s compensation philosophy.
This role reports to the Director, Compensation & Benefits. This is a remote opportunity within the US and Canada.
What we’re looking for:
- A minimum of 5 years compensation experience, with a strong advisory background
- Strong understanding of compensation related legislation and industry best practices
- Proven experience building compensation programs for a diverse workforce
- Prior experience utilizing compensation surveys / data analytics, quantitative analysis and modeling for plan/program design and implementation
- Experience with project management and change management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the demonstrated ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and use insights to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Discretion handling confidential information
- Demonstrated track record of proactive problem solving
- Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build relationships
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment dealing with change and continuously shifting requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced scaling company
- Demonstrated expertise in using google sheets to analyze large data sets (i.e. intermediate level for formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Experience with equity plan design, including dilution analysis, modelling & forecasting stock usage
Preferred, nice to have, specialized knowledge/skills:
- Experience with international and executive compensation
What you can expect:
- Play a lead role in the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, to support 1Password’s business objectives and ensure that we attract, engage, and retain our talent.
- Manage all tasks related to the annual merit process for internal client groups from process beginning to completion including data validation, calculation, and communication.
- Manage the new equity award list & coordinate with Finance, Accounting, and Legal teams to ensure seamless execution of equity grants for new hires and for internal moves within the organization.
- Assist in modeling for equity refresh programs and budgeting in conjunction with Finance.
- Participate in senior management discussions regarding initiatives/changes in organization structures and provide corresponding job evaluation support, analysis, and compensation recommendations.
- Prepare a variety of special reports and analysis to monitor the integrity and competitiveness of our compensation programs.
- Prepare market analysis and recommendations for any compensation adjustments.
- Research and analyse trends and best practices, and compile compensation data to assist in the design of compensation programs.
- Keep abreast of global legislation changes related to compensation (e.g. min wage, pay equity).
- Lead the roll out/communication of changes to compensation programs for assigned internal clients
- Develop value-add compensation tools and templates for both end users and the People team, to ensure efficient and effective compensation processes
- Recommend process improvements and efficiencies within the department.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Finance department by providing analysis and modelling.
- Provide consultative support to HR Business Partners and Leaders and supports all aspects of compensation including market research, data analysis, process improvements, incentives, salary administration and policy application
- Develop strong external networks with compensation peers in other organizations/industries to share compensation information and exchange best practices.
USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $116,000 USD and $158,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $108,000 CAD and $139,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
