About the role

Shopify’s Core Creative team has an open seat for a Sr. Marketing Designer who will concept, build and lead world-class web experiences on Shopify.com.

This person will sweat every detail and elevate the design discipline at Shopify through their work, sharing in the stewardship of user experience across digital surfaces. The ideal candidate has exceptional web and visual design skills. Their portfolio showcases interactive experiences that make us wish we’d made that work ourselves. Your role will center on designing engaging visual experiences that are both informative and inspiring for diverse audiences, with the aim of educating, motivating, and converting. They relish puzzling through how to communicate nuanced product stories for different audiences, and they’re fired up about creating award-winning work that serves Shopify’s customers and businesses everywhere. This is a crafter / individual contributor role.

Responsibilities  

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Independently design and support the build of modern, interactive and fluid webpages
  • Convey ideas at all levels of fidelity from wireframes to rapid prototypes, to highly-polished comps
  • Flex exceptionally strong visual and interactive design chops, maintaining craft excellence down to the pixel/letter at all times. We’re looking for excellence in design fundamentals.
  • Develop and create visual design for marketing channels, including social media, email campaigns, and landing pages.
  • Be a daily idea generator and help shape the future of creativity at Shopify through your work.
  • Be obsessed with honing your craft, constantly staying on top of (and using!) emerging creative technologies
  • Work on projects with high complexity in partnership with stakeholders and collaborators across all disciplines
  • Work on multiple projects independently., maintaining a high level of craft excellence from start to finish
  • Demonstrate strong storytelling and presentation skills, clearly articulating design decisions in service of project goals
  • Be a team player and demonstrate stellar collaboration skills via working with a blended team of creatives and marketing partners

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Proven experience crafting stunning digital experiences and solving design challenges of all shapes and sizes. A must-see in your portfolio.
  • Proven expertise and experience in the end-to-end iterative design process for creating web experience on desktop and mobile, including how to develop and use design research, journey mapping, wire-framing, prototyping, and creating high-fidelity interactive visual experiences.
  • Experience in adapting work to perform across multiple contexts including SEO, brand, product marketing, paid media, and social channels.
  • Experience being both a leader and hands-on designer on large-scale, complex initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience and comfort with creative technologies, bringing a passion for building bold experiences with the assistance of generative AI
  • A scrappy, resourceful approach to projects – you’re proactive and require little to no guidance.
  • Deep knowledge of design & prototyping tools such as, but not limited to, Figma, GitHub, and Adobe Creative Suite. A big plus if you have knowledge of Cinema4D and After Effects.
  • Top-notch communications skills, having comfort and experience communicating with creative peers and marketing partners daily.
  • A zero ego, “no task is too big or too small” mindset, demonstrating you’re an all around team player
